I have a 4 mnth old long coat chihuahua and her ears are still mostly down. I've read they usually come up between 3 to 8 months. They are cute now but I think the cutest thing about chi's are their little ears. I've been told if you message their ears away from their head from the base to the tip that this will help. Any other ideas?

You can gentle massage her ears but be careful because you can hurt her ..(even break her cartilage)...... her ears should go up within the next six weeks if they don't you have a 50/50 chance that they ever will ......if she is a late teether it will take a little longer , ........but don't worry because she doesn't care what your ears look either...If my Chihuahua , Mr. Dudley was a little younger I would have introduced them ..he has one fully up and one never quite made it ....when people ask I tell them he is part of the 1/2 floppy eared breed ...

Have they ever been up to your knowledge (can you call the breeder and ask?) If they have been then no worries. They will come up again. However if they haven't, they probably still will. I have a short coat chi that had a lot of problems getting his ears up. Even at 1 year old, when he slept, he wake up with down ears. At one point the ears came up and have stayed up even when he's sleeping now. Give her sometime. I'm sure some one is going to tell you to tape them. It is usually not needed. Chi ears are supposed to stand and most of them do.

Massaging the ears may help, but as long as the puppy is teething, her ears will go up and down. They usually stand straight up by 6 months.

She'll grow into them, just give it a little more time. We all develop differently.
