I'd say it's more manipulated than fixed.
Montoya wins in Mexico. Jr. wins Daytona the same year his dad was killed on the same track...without needing draft help. Jr. gets a caution as soon as his broadcast radio communication says he needs a caution or he'll go a lap down. Certain drivers don't get penalized for driving under the yellow line at Daytona and Talladega, while others do. Debris cautions come out whenever a driver is running away with a race so they can have that green white checkered shootout almost every week. Jr. ALWAYS gets a "for dale" caution whenever he is the the "lucky dog" candidate. And the biggest giveaway of all? Budsweiser is the official beer of NASCAR. You tell me it's not manipulated.

Welcome to the real world!!! The sponsors have shoved so much money up Bill France's a** he's no longer able to speak. Therefore, the sponsors now control NASCAR and why we have idiots like Larry (who never shuts up) McReynolds and Rusty (I'm Mr. wonderful) Wallace in the booth. The yellow flags are very creative and do exactly what you said. The sponsors demand it because it's the biggest viewing audience they have in US sports. The Daytona race alone was on-air for an hour and twenty two minutes before that cars took the green flag because the sponsors have cram you full of bullsh*t. It now takes eight people to commentate and bring you a race and they all have to say something. What a joke. Dale Jr. this, Dale Jr.that, Tony Stewart this, Tony Stewart that, and the feud of the week. I was a fan for 30 years, but no more. It's just too hokey.

The thing with Nascar possibly being fixed is that it would never work. None of the drivers would agree to do that. Especially drivers such as Jeff Gordon, Mark Martin, Tony Stewart, Greg Biffle, Kevin Harvick, Jimmie Johnson, Dale Jr,etc.
I admit that Nascar is fishy when it comes to throwing out those caution flags but to fix the entire race...I think not!

I t appears that certain events are fixed. At times the hype for a certain driver starts on Monday or Tuesday before man event and goes thru practice and quailifing and he is talked about the full race.
Then other events the media hypes state tis is SO-and-so's track and if anything goes wrong some miracal happens and so-and -so wins.
Yes I think some events are fixed and others are showing favorites in other ways.

I've been a NASCAR fan for fourty years, am quickly losing interest. One of the best driver's (Stewart) and second best (Jeff Gordon) are turning into whining crying babies. What's with all these ghost yellows? The only way you know what a car make is , is the decals. I'm spending my money (again) this year on local dirt , 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 mile tracks. I want to see drivers drive, not cry. Jerks.

no it's not drama
the yellows come late because more drivers are anxious to get up front and they'll do anything to get there
doesn't matter that tony stewart said it
jon wood could have said what tony said but it wouldnt have gotten press
it's just tony is a big name
and the same racers win the same races because they're good at that track and have ample knowledge and experience

no i dont think its fixed. i love chris d's answer, stop watching it. but, you know you cant. yall talk about the whiners. what the hell are yall doin here on answers. at 180 miles an hour plus, id be whining about everything. ****, if theres a friggin sponser's sticker out of place, id be whining. i see theres talk about the sponsers and all related stuff that 's making the sport boring and uninteresting. well my take is that the drivers just wanna drive those car's with there hair on fire. they know what all the hoopla does to the fans. ignore all of it, and just watch it. its still the sport that it used to be. no matter the engineering that is now involved, its not the car that preforms, its the cat holding the wheel.

That question has been asked for 20 years now. Dale Earnhardt Sr. got so many none calls after knocking other drivers into the wall, you'd swear he was invisible. The bigger names have always had miraculous luck when it came to needing a yellow to catch up ,or they just passed someone for the lead. It's not really fixed, but it ain't far from it some times.

There is no way to "FIX" the race. It's not like Basketball, Football etc. You are talking about 43 different teams in NASCAR on raceday, not 2 teams playing each other. And to the post about Johnsons tire, Johnson had a drive thru penalty for the tire going to the outside half of the pit-box. Get your facts straight. As for an Offical stopping a tire, they have done it for all teams, they are responsible to prevent an accident if they can.
