The world's resources are being used up, that's true. But when you stop to consider the huge movement toward conservation, it's concieivable that we will come up with a solution before we bring about doom. Nature will stop us in our tracks. We'll be without our creature comforts and more exposed to the elements, but we will probably not destroy the earth. We may even destroy mankind, but the earth will still be here, no matter what devastation we mere mortals may wreak upon it.

There are times in the history of the earth when CO2 (the greenhouse gas of most significance when it comes to man's activities) has been as high as 30% of the atmosphere. Natural systems have brought this down again and even with man's activity the level is now less than 400ppm. Global warming may disrupt weather patterns and cause sea levels to rise resulting in some animal extinctions and some death and hardship for humans, but the end of the world or human life on it, I think not.

The planet will survive it always has. But our world will end and if we keep the status quo, humanity is looking at it's own extinction.
I think by law everyone should have to recycle ALL plastics, paper products, glass, metal and compost. People should be given incentive to be more environmentally friendly. Incandescent light bulbs should be banned and houses, streets and businesses should be lite withe fluorescent bulbs. Cars should be made to run on Bio-diesel. Governments and Big Business have to go green. We as the people of this planet should demand it. It's time we take a stand to preserve our world improve it and protect it for our children.

Not a chance. Throughout history the temperature of the earth has fluctuated up and down by a few degrees. Just because this time humans caused it doesn't mean the earth will explode.

People will be spending more time at the beach wearing less clothes and the Earth will be destroyed because of that. Good point.

No. It won't be like a disaster movie.

If you live in a rich country it won't kill you. But it will cost huge sums of money to relocate people and stuff away from the coasts, and change how we irrigate and grow crops. So you'll be significantly poorer.

If you're in a poor country you run a risk of starving to death because of damage to agriculture.

There's no need to exaggerate the effects of global warming. Reality is bad enough.

The earth itself won't be destroyed, but human civilization could be drastically changed, and a great many species of plants and animals could become extinct.

I for one would hate for us to bequeath that kind of world to our children and grandchildren.
