I love my fiance very much, and I can't wait til we get married. There are some issues however... Our immediate families live four hours apart and my extended family is scattered all over the country. We've both been married before, we're paying for our own wedding, and we don't have a lot of money to spend. If anyone can help me with some good ideas, I would appreciate it. I love my fiancee more than anything, and I want our wedding to something special, not something tacky or cheap. What do I do?

We had this same problem when we were planning our wedding. Our parents live an hour from each other, and my husband's apartment (where I was moving in to after the wedding) was an hour away from either of them. However, my dad can't drive anymore, my mom doesn't drive on the freeway, and his parents have another 11 children to pack into the van if they were all going somewhere.

We already had a $100 deposit on a little wedding chapel when we got the word that the parents weren't all in agreement about what we were doing, so we decided that everyone would drive. We got married in a state park in Nevada, just outside of Las Vegas and we were much happier! (We live in Southern California.)

Hi

Congratulations!

Weddings can be quite complicated and expensive. Even if it's a common wedding held in a church followed by a reception and honeymoon, there is a lot of planning and cost involved. Couples can cut those costs in half and save on all the time and frustration of planning a wedding by seeking out a travel agent to plan a dream vacation destination wedding.

This is the best wedding arrangement in view of your situation with relatives scattered all over.

In the recent years, these destination weddings have been rapidly increasing in popularity. Some destination weddings involve couples eloping to an adventurous and exciting location, while others choose to invite a few close family and friends to celebrate with them. Many couples even find themselves saving money by planning a destination wedding.

You can also get lots of help from the book called "Destination Wedding Workbook" found on the same webpage.

But how do you inform your relatives of this wonderful event? My suggestion is to have a personal wedding website .... to share this special occassion with your relatives and friends and also allow them to celebrate with you by posting on Guest Books and buying you gofts through the wedding registry.

With a bit of research and imagination, you can have your dream wedding in syle and not having to blow your budget.

Make sure that you give all of your guests time to request the date off of work! Now, for the fun part! I would suggest instead of a huge monstrous cake, a cupcake display in your wedding colors. The cupcakes can be frozen just like a cake-I wouldn't freeze it for more than 2 months before your wedding though. You can frost them or use fondant in your wedding colors! You can use a monogram for the center of them or just leave them plain! So many ideas! I would severe orderves-keep these simple. Food network has a ton of wedding ideas, they give a way or at least they did a wedding a year! You need to decide your menu and venue. I would keep things just below formal, like an afternoon wedding, this way your bridesmaids could wear knee length dresses instead of the more expensive floor-lengthens. The groom & groomsmen could wear a suit & tie instead of a full tux and that will also kee costs down. Don't forget to ask your friends and family id they would like to help out & ask them to serve the ordourves, I would have a buffet for the dinner & ask some other guests to serve the cake. Most of your friends would love to help put them to work, just be sure to give them a nice thank you gift for their help!

Take a trip to the ocean and have a private ceremony on the beach, have someone record it for you and make the trip your honeymoon. Then, when you return, you can have an informal reception for everyone and while they are there you can play the video of the wedding for them. You can probably find a good videographer who can include photos of the two of you as kids and dating and whatever into the video.

oh man i did my entire wedding for 150 people for less then 300 bucks that's everything. check around ask friends co-workers. my sister in law made all the flower arrangements as our wedding gift, my moms friend made our cake for 50 bucks that would have cost us 300 alone, the church with a huge shelter house was out in the country and took only donation, a friend of a someone i don't know who he was catered all of it as a gift. best of all i got my dress at an outlet mall for 90 bucks. be creative with your spending.
as for the family in a world where money grew on trees you could stick to the traditional ideas of the couple pays for transportation to and fro and all the accommodations but in a more realistic world, one that i live in at least, try making a list of the ones you know for a fact would come and try to position your wedding place in the middle. its a lot cheaper for you to go there then to pay for all of them to come to you. besides its nice to see new places and moving closer to them will just give them the sense that their presence is that much more important to you.

Very often I check Martha Stewart website for the purpose of my wedding planning. She has some great ideas that are very simple, elegant and unexpensive. Ask your friends and relatives to help with whatever they can.

Well, because it's a second wedding, you won't be planning anything fancy anyway. Just maybe have it in your backyard, with a simple supper for family and close friends at your home.
