i don't particularly love it but it's not what i want. it's your baby so if you like it then go for it. There isn't such a thing as choosing an ethnic name that doesn't sound ethnic, you could tell hardcore that that name is indian without you saying so.( then again i live around lots of indian people.) How is it pronounced? I prefer the name Devika which is also indian. kids will be kids regardless.... my middle name is ann and i used to get called ann the man .... and ann is a perfectly normal, plain and boring name so yea.

No my parents are from Pakistan. That sounds nice. Another good name would be Vidya.
Divya = Divine Brilliance; Heavenly, brilliant
Vidya = Wisdom, knowledge

All I can think of:
'Dubya,' as in the idiot, and
'divot,' as in dirt clod dislodged by a golf club.
It doesn't sound so much 'too ethnic' as it does 'too like existing words in English, which have less-than-ideal meanings.'

Not sure how you are pronouncing it? Div--YA? In this day and age any name is okay. Think about the name Envy,Tierney,daneille,Syn(sin) I like different names not the same old Mary,judy,jane how blases is that. Envy Blue is my favorite.
