How about adopting from the Michigan Humane Society in Detroit (or Westland or Rochester)? It is "kitten season" and there are literally hundreds of cats this time of year.

Cats over 4 months old are $65 which includes first FVRCP vaccine, rabies vaccine, health evaluation, fecal check, deworming, treatment for ear mites if present, spay/neuter and a 10 day health plan for infectious diseases (MHS pays 100% if sick with infectious disease within 1st 10 days).

Kittens under 4 months are $ 80 which includes first FVRCP vaccine, health evaluation, fecal check, deworming, treatment for ear mites if present, spay/neuter and a 10 day health plan for infectious diseases (MHS pays 100% if sick with infectious disease within 1st 10 days).

If you decide you want 2 cats, adoption fee of the 2nd cat is reduced by 1/2 if adopted within 30 days of the 1st cat!

Feline leukemia testing also available for additional $15

Try local shelters or rescue groups. They have adoption fees, but those include a lot of vet care - usually, a shelter cat is a much better deal than a "free" cat that still needs all the vet stuff done.

However, if you have so little money to spend on a cat, have you given thought to what you'll do should your cat get sick or be injured?
