I am a new NASCAR fan, but one thing I have noticed right away is that whenever Tony Stewart opens his mouth, he is complaining about something or just being nasty. I know a lot of the drivers weren't happy with the new track in Vegas, but none of them whined about it like he did.

I know it is early in the season, but judging from his lack of points so far, it seems like he is complaining about stuff to make up for bad driving.

Like I said, I am a new fan, just wondering.

First of all, I do not like Tony Stewart. However, he drives good and he has good finishes. He does whine some, but what he said about the LVMS track was right on the money. Everyone was complaining about it after the race, and a few before the race. Stewart, Jeff Gordon, and others did not like the new track. No, they don't really whine, they just say how they feel.
Being a new fan... welcome!! I think you will like the races each week and if you want a real thrill, spend some money and go to a race. You will neer regret it.
I had to chance to drive around the track in Las Vegas, and at 165 MPH, its a thrill!!

No offense to Jeff Gordon but...if Tony Stewart is considered to be a whiner and a crybaby, then what does that make Jeff Gordon?

Tony Stewart was not whining nor crying. He was simply stating what a lot of drivers had said about the improvements to the track in Las Vegas. Tony was not the only driver who said that the track was terrible.

Also, you are a new fan as you pointed out so common sense would tell you that we are only 3 races into the season. The reason why Tony "has a lack of points so far" is due to the Daytona 500. Tony got taken out when Kurt Busch made a bad move and this put him towards the back in the points standings. Tony is currently 13th in the points standings and I bet your bottom dollar that there are a lot of drivers who would want to be where Tony is at!

if you know anything about Tony Stewart it's this...YOU CAN'T KEEP HIM DOWN FOR LONG!

Tony Stewart one of 14 drivers to win multiple cup titles. Does he open his mouth and speak what he feels, yeah he does. As far as points go its 3 races into the season and he is sitting in 13th, he has plenty of time to get the points needed to make the chase. Stewart does something that not a lot of drivers will do in this day and age, call it like he sees it.

Then again Stewart has more racing accoladdes than most drivers in the world today, so I expect a little hate.

I can't say much more than what people have already said... Tony says it like it is.. and he is often right. I didn't hear a single driver contradict what Tony said about the track conditions. Being one of NASCARs superstars, he has more opportunity to get his opinion out to the media, since he gets interviewed probably more often that alot of the drivers.

As for where he is in the points: If you remember he was involved in a wreck in the Daytona 500 (first race) and finished dead last. That put him something like 39 in the points. He is now 13th having climbed about 26 spots in the last 2 races!

And you want to hear whining, wait till somebody spins Jeffy for the win!.. then you'll hear whining.

I can't stand Tony Stewart, but he is no where even close to Jeff Gordon. OMG Jeff Gordon makes a new born baby look like a perfect angel in the whining department.

I've been watching him for years. When Mr. Stewart "whines" or "cries" it's for a reason. Dale Sr. did it, and it was "for a reason". When Mark Martin says things, I listen - he's a veteran. If Daryl Waltrip says it, I listen. This past week, it was because of the track. It's new, no one is used to it. It's dangerous, I agree.

Watch the race. Really, watch the race. Turn the volume down, and watch. (don't practice) Just watch. 180+ miles at turns of 40 degrees...(tip your cup at 40 degrees...) and imagine a 2000+ piece of metal doing that with a track of pavement that is sooooo hot (or cool) depending.

They all whine and cry at some point. And, most of them have the right. Just not the last winner of Daytona.

stewart wasn't the only one complaining about the track or tire. if you watched the busch race on saturday, all you heard after each crash was complaints about the track and tire, even from the commentators. same thing happened a couple years ago at charlotte. as for the bad driving? from who stewart, he finished 3rd on saturday ,and 7th on sunday. and that doesn't say there wasn't any problems with the race, it just means he found a way to over come them, but others did do that better. and for whining, he just stating his opinion and/or facts. if you think that is bad, wait until gordon gets taken out with a move he has no problem doing to others

It's his personality. He's a talented driver (he finished top ten in Vegas). But he has a whiny personality.
But, about Tony, I've heard it said before "I don't know how someone can get this far and be such a jerk."
He's always mouthing that he's scared of something, and rarely takes responsibilities for his screwups. But that's a personality thing, not a matter of driving talent.

He is whining a lot lately. I would say that his competitive attitude tells him that "you're the best and in order to prove that you need to make excuses up front in case you don't win." I like Stewart, my mom loves him...but sometimes whining makes you look bad....well, always makes you look bad. I've never been a fan of Jeff Burton but since last year, I think he is the model NASCAR driver. GO KAHNE!!!!!

ps. Let's see DW get back in one more time!!! Where's the #17 Tide car??? :)

~SMOKE~ isn't oftentimes a whiner. He replaced into jacked by ability of a NASCAR action picture star wannabe (ManToya)and that itself is yet another tale. Smoke would not have suggested some thing if he couldn't imagine of a few other thing beneficial useful than that. Smoke isn't a quitter and if he "retires" for that then he's quitting and could lose an vast style of followers, including me. so a procedures as getting what he needs...Zippy and Joe Gibbs Racing have given him each thing he needs. Now that's as a lot as ~SMOKE~ to positioned it in the winner's circle. He can do it. they can do it.
