When I did the estimator, my EFC was =1. When I did the actual FAFSA, EFC=2300. My mom makes 24000, my dad is unemployed and we have 4 kids in the family. Does the 2300 EFC sound right?

No, that doesn't sound right at all. Did you have an income? Or were there other things factor in to your FAFSA like unemployment, workers comp, or anything like that? If you don't work and there is no extra income in the family other than your mothers $24000, your EFC should be around 400-800. Make sure that there aren't any miss-typed numbers in your AGI, or Income.

did you make any money yourself?

your own income factors in a lot too.

So if you worked hard and had a job that might be why.

but it certainly doesn't hurt to double check with the folks at fafsa.

good luck!

you should definitely double check. Having four kids in the family alone should have given you a more than substainal sum of financial aid.
