I'm moving into a new apartment, and I'm currently looking at paint choices. The livingroom, diningroom and the kitchen is all open towards eachother. I wanted to paint the livingroom a warm yellow (Behr paint colours Banana Cream (350C-2) with a highlight of Applesauce (350C-3)) on the fireplace wall. We have a green with cream and burgundy couch, chair and ottoman.

Since the livingroom is open to the kitchen, I was wondering for ideas about what colour to paint the kitchen area. I would like a colour that isn't yellow, but doesn't clash with the rest of the living area.

Take a look at a color wheel and see if you want colors that are complementary to each other or what not. A true complementary color the the yellow is violet. Now don't freak out. It doesn't have to be a bright or deep violet. Your next choice would be to choose a color next to yellow, which would be orange or green. Once you choose which direction to go, you need to choose a tone that is the same as the yellows you already have. Also, remember that the best way to bring everything together is with accessories, like the fabric in the pillows the curtains and even the kitchen towels. Don't let your furniture hold you back, as there are always slipcovers

I agree w/ Puzz. Go to Home Depot or Lowe's or anywhere that has 1 of those stands w/ all the different colors of paint. & Grab a bunch that U like that r light & calm'g. Or a color wheel.

Also U may wanna consider grab'g 1 of those Behr Brochures ~ the 1 that has a bunch of Off~White w/ Color Tint. ~ I think that would b the way to go. There's like 3 or 4 Off White w/ Color Tint paints that I think would go great. I dont have it in front of me so I couldnt tell U the names. It's in the baby's room.

Cant go wrong w/ Off White w/ Color Tint.

We have a similar situation in our house, and we painted an accent wall in our living room which is similar to your Applesauce color. In the kitchen, we painted the walls medium blue, and glazed over them to give a "whitewashed" effect, kind of looks like clouds in the sky. It looks great, is very sunny and inviting.

Well my kitchen is a little bit lighter than my living room. So for your kitchen if your going to make your living room a warm yellow than maybe you should try something darker than that. If you don't like dark maybe make in between a brown and a yelllow.t might sound ugly but its beautiful.
