Hello...me again. in College, and my Spring Break starts this Thursday. There is a lot of sickness going around the campus right now, and I am trying to keep well so I can enjoy my Spring Break...There is a girl that I know, that I have to sit next to in class tomorrow...she is not feeling well...stuffy nose, coughing every once in a while. She says that it is just allergies, but she has been like this for two weeks and hasn't started feeling any better yet. Anyway, we have to sit close to each other (the chairs are up to a table where about 15 people sit facing the front of the classroom). Like I said, I really son't want to get sick.....what can i do to help keep myself from getting sick? I use hand sanitizer very often, am taking Airborne as much as I can, etc. I just really do not want to get sick....

You may want to build a tougher immune system so even when sick people surround you, your'e body is able to defend itself.

The girl with the cold symptoms really does have allergies, because if she's had it for two weeks and it hasn't gotten much better, it's not a cold, so rest easy sitting next to her.
Something you can do to scave off any cold/flu germs is to use a saline nose drop once or twice a day. The come in a little bottle and you put it up into your nose and squeeze, so that a mist of saline(salt water) goes into your sinus cavities and kills any virus/bacteria before it propegates.
Getting enough sleep and not drinking alcohol should also seroiously boost your defenses.
Have a great break.

Don't get so freaked out about common illnesses. That classmate of your's could really have allergies, a two week flare is nothing when you have allergy symptoms year 'round, so don't be blaming her. I think if you let your own immune system build antibodies by itself, instead of taking Airborne as much as you do, would be much healthier for you. Hand sanitizer is great and convienent. Loosen up, if it's your turn to get sick, so be it. Live your life man, you seem real tensed out about this issue.

Ask the teacher if you can move or make sure you wash your hands right away after class. I think you will be fine.
