Welfare gets help with child care but Military with a working spouses get no daycare help unless you live on base. I cant live on base because i live in Oregon and have medical issues that I have been withone doctor through it but even if I lived in Lejeune where he is stationed I would have the same issue almost

Good grief. Army wife here. You need an attitude adjustment. You have such a misguided sense of entitlement! Just because your husband is military doesnt mean that you get everything for free. Think of alllll those things you get for discounts just because of your husbands service. Commissary and PX privileges, good insurance coverage, dental coverage, housing allowance. If you cant afford the copays and glasses, well tell husband to get an AER loan. If you have Prime coverage you shouldnt have copays unless you went to doctors without a referral from your PCM.

There are people who are paid by the military to just sit and wait for a phone call from YOU with a problem so they can try to FIX IT. There is a thing called CHAIN OF COMMAND that fields calls from wives with problems, and try to FIX THEM. Do you think employers in the civilian world give a RIP about your problems??? NO THEY DONT!!! I PROMISE they dont. Just because you dont live on a military installation doesnt mean you dont receive those benefits. That is your choice to live in Oregon. I am pretty sure there are doctors close to where your husband is that can treat you. You may have to travel a little, but at least you will be close to your husband....unless you dont want to be near your husband? And as far as the stress of deployments, well, SUCK IT UP! Deployments are a sure thing, they arent going away. So if you dont like the fact that you dont get free eyeglasses and your husband deploys, then divorce him. Good grief why does it bother you for him to deploy? You are apart from him now anyway! And YOU are stressed? How about HIM? You ever think of anyone besides yourself?

You have better dental and medical coverage than civilians. Know how I know? Because I have BEEN ONE!! It is wives like you that give US a bad name. Be thankful for what you have and be thankful for a husband who provides for you with his dedicated service.

The military is not a welfare system (although some think it is and others think it should be).

The military is just a job like any other... and like other insured working Americans, we have to pay a co-pay. (A smaller co-pay than most civilians, by the way.)

You want your daycare paid for too? Oh my gosh, I've heard it all.

I really don't get what you're complaining about or why you're comparing it to welfare. Get some dignity, for crying out loud. You're embarrassing military families.

Although, with the size of the chip on your soldier, there will be no answer good enough for you.

Really, you're an embarrassment. I feel sorry for your husband.

Personally I don't want to be lumped in with the welfare families so I don't mind what we have to pay as copays for our dental and eye exams. We have Prime so I don't have to do the medical copay though. Also when it comes to daycare ask around for who gives military discounts. While my husband was deployed we weren't in a military town (though close to an Air reserve base) When my daughter was in daycare we only had to pay 150 a week instead of 200. Also there is a program that helps out the families of deployed active duty soldiers with free or reduced daycare. They do a scholarship of sorts. I didn't do that only because I knew that when the year was up and I did my taxes I'd be fully reimbursed so I just didn't bother with the paperwork. I can't remember the name of the program but you could ask the key caller for your FRG and they should be able to give that info to you. I know sometimes it's aggravating when dealing with medical bills and it can get overwhelming. But in reality I'm sure you don't want our healthcare to be reduced to being like welfare. Just make sure you find out what discounts you are entitled to, make sure you go to the drs covered by your plan, and keep all your receipts. Medical costs can count as a tax write off if you reach a certain percentage of your income and it can be pretty easy to get to that point.(I want to say it's 7% but I may be wrong about that and it does change from year to year anyway) Also get the daycare to give you the proper tax forms at the end of the fiscal year and you can get at least a large portion back on your federal return.
I know somedays it gets overwhelming for anyone dealing with these issues and that it;s an added stress having your husband in the military but hang in there. Things will work out! ;-) Just check into those discounts!

The policy was changed during the late 1980's or early '90s as a "cost cutting" measure. The people at the time figured that the money gained by deductables would help pay for part of the program. Later when the military realised that the program was a mess they changed it again. Years passed and yet another change happened. Now we get Tricare.

If you are having problems with medical care, you can talk to them and see if they will lower your costs. They do that on a case by case basis depending on need.

The Almighty Bill Clinton and his henchmen changed the way the Military gets benefits. When I was in, I and immediate family were treated as part of my benefit package..Bill Clinton thought that since the Military is a job, dependents should pay co-payments and not rude the gravy train....Funny, he and his dependents all get free medical and prescriptions, at Military and VA Facilities
Liberals at work for themselves....

The very same Liberals that cut VA Funding and are no whining that the VA Hospitals are a mess.....Not President Bush's responsibluity, it is all up to the Congress

Just because your husband is in the military does not mean that you are entitled to entirely free health services.

The welfare system benefits people who actually need it. Find a job.

Have you applied for the Exceptional Family Member Program?? If not, have your husband apply for the EFM program if your medical issues are causing diffuculties. I was stationed out in 29 Palms, and they helped with moving to a house closer to the hospital, costs of referrals to specialists, co-payments, etc. They may be able to help you. I'm sure you'd have to move on base, but they'd be able to help you do it and find you a doctor.

People on welfare get very limited dental care and nothing on eyewear. But as long as we are giving billions to
Halliburton so they can buy better humvees, the best body armor wear and $50 monogramed towels for their "contractors", the military families will get shortchanged.

Ask Hillary Clinton...her and Bill did it...we did not have to pay anything for our family members until Clinton said that military dentists should not treat family members, and that we should have to pay for the "insurance"...when this happened many service members argued that this was breach of contract, because when I came in, it said free medical and dental for you and your family members...this is another reason why I hate the Clintons...

Liberals: go ahead and give me a thumbs down, but you didn't live it I did...and I know the truth!
