In Islam there is the concept of the GLOBAL UMMAH- The Muslim community and that we should support our Muslim brothers no matter what

But what if they are wrong..Some times the Muslim is not doing right like in Sudan (darfur) Checnya (belsan) and Al Queda?
And in an conflict there is always two sides

And what about the concept of when one muslim sufferes we all suffer - Should I also care when none muslims suffer too?

Aren't we all human isn't it wrong to say somebody is better than another because of their religion?

No , this is not right, Well if you listen to two people .one is non-muslim and other is muslim, and muslim is wrong but the non-muslim is right, You should go with the non-muslim.......See islam also calls for justice.and justice is to call right as right and wrong as wrong.........No bonus points for muslims in this regard!
Yes Global ummah concept is right but this is for the unity of muslims.....they should not fight to each other based on the property or boundaries.......making muslims not to fight to each other at governament levels......its not good for two muslim countries to be at war with each other .....in this way they are keeping the religion aside and giving preiority to the territories .which is a wrong concept and this thing devide muslims into groups and countries !This is the global Ummah concept that we are feeling pain for our brothers in sisters in the countries where they are suffering !

As for those terrorist, So we all know that they are wrong..........and wrong is always wrong and their being muslims can not make this wrong as right.......they kill innocents and this is even a bigger crime and Allah does not like such peoples . and thats why he has kept hell for them.....so for terrorists so we should not support them on any ground.....they should be hated only ! and they do not deserve any mercy !
Yes you should also care about the sufferings of non-muslims as well.......

Noble Verse 5:32 "...if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people..."

Here Allah did not mention any community but talking about all the peoples making the whole humanity.so this mercy should be for all peoples! without any discrimination of religion ! because we all are Allah creation and He loves us all !
"And there are, certainly, among the People of the Book [Jews and Christians], those who believe in God, in the revelation to you, and in the revelation to them, bowing in humility to God: They will not sell the Signs of God for a miserable gain! For them is a reward with their Lord, and God is swift in account. (The Noble Quran, 3:199)"

When Allah has kept reward for them, Who are we to deny this ! Right?

May peace be with you !

I don't believe a Muslim, a Jew or a Christian or any other religion, etc. should support someone of their own religion, culture, ethnic background, etc. if that person is doing something wrong. That is the same as voting for someone just because they are a Muslim or a black, etc. I don't know too much about the Muslim religion but the concept of when one suffers they all suffer is kind of selfish. I don't believe that either. You sound like a caring and smart person. There are always two sides to every conflict, etc. I totally agree with your last statement. I am a Christian but growing up I saw and heard a lot of things that to me didn't make sense. People who claimed to be Christians were not acting like Christians. Today, I do not believe in organized religion because of this but I believe in God and try to live a good life caring about others no matter what color they are or what religion they practice.

There has been a long way from the beginings of Islam to the multinational companies of today, and the globalisation which is coming... Somewhere inbetween, has the concept of all muslims united lost its strength. American muslims have not much to do with muslims from India... for example.

What has unified the Muslims in the Middle East right now, is the common enemy - USA. The American agressive foreign policy has awakened the jihad. Jihad is justified. It is a war that USA is not used to handle, and in this sense the Al Queda is justified as means of warfare. There is no difference between Charlie Bravo (F-16) and Mother, from a Muslim pilot flying toward Alah... (Read my reply about terrorism good or bad.)

I'm atheist with sympathies toward Budhism (not in religious sense). I suffer when a Muslim or anyone, suffers because of what USA (or any other force: Stalin, Red Kmers, Germans, Spanyards, English, etc.) has been capable of doing in this world... I suffer because of the warming of the planet, the nuclear waste thrown near the North East African coast (Italians), the ozone layer, because our children drink too much Coca Cola, the extinction of the Chinese river dolphin.... I suffer for the common, manipulated individual full of fear and frustration, who is facing all this monsters. I suffer the most for what has been done to my country, my people, my city, me...

The concepts you bring are justified, but rather belong to some historical period and the people of it, which we all should start slowly leaving behind...

Religion is maturing too...

No, noone should be supported if you know with proof that they are wrong, muslim or non muslim.

i am a muslim and i would never support or stand up for any thing which is in direct conflict of the basic laws of religion and humanity, no matter what faith they claim to be.

I don't know where you get this concept of supporting a so called global Ummah of whathever they do? I have never heard of this before. if we started doing this we would be like sheep just following majority, wouldn't you agree?

The truth does not always have to be the majority

Equality before Law has been the distinguished feature of Justice in Islamic nations. It is irrespective of the religion of the parties at dispute before a Judge. The great Caliph Ali was summoned in the Court of Qazi on a suit by a Jew. The Caliph had to stand alongside the plaintiff. It is only in the present world that The Presidents of countries are absolved of court appearance.

From what I know, I'd say that the Muslim faith does not support wrong actions, because that would make the person not truly a Muslim. I can call myself a Christian all day, but I don't live my life that way, it makes it no more true than me stating I'm a platypus. And true, when one suffers we all suffer, but does it actually state just Muslims or the world? From what I know from Muslim people I know, it means the world.

I don't think that i ever read in the Quran anything that forces muslims to help muslims even when the latter are wrong. However, Quran stresses always that one must encourage and do good deeds.

However, the idea of helping someone closest to you (your relative, friend) whether s/he is right or wrong is well established in the Arab mentality (it is a direct result of Bedouin life-style). But i also think that people in general tend to support their type - unless it involved a consequence one can't accept.

I think you are smart enough to see wrong from right...

I don't see an atheist with an opinion automatically as better than a Muslim with an opinion. Opinions are just that, opinions.

Even Hitler has probably in his lifetime sometimes said a few things that I would agree on. It's not the person that counts, it's the action, the deed and the opinion that counts.

But you know all that, right? :p

Hi there. A fellow Muslim is your brother or sister. Supporting them to do an injustice would be to do them a wrong, you must support them to truth. It is your duty to support when it means offering correction, however unpleasant.
It is the same for christians like me. Tough, isn't it?
Good luck, Steve.
