Some dandruff has nothing to do with hair oil, but may actually a fungal condition. At least, that is what my doctor told me. He gave me a prescription for a strong dandruff shampoo to get it under control, and after using it twice a week for a month I started being able to keep it under control with the nasty OTC dandruff shampoo once a week.
So check with your doctor!

My brother uses Pert Plus with Dandruff control. That stuff smells pretty good. I think the key is not necessarily what product you use (most contain the same anti-dandruff ingredients) but HOW you use it.
Make sure you're washing your hair every day. More if you're in a hot area of the country.
Second, leave the shampoo on your head for at least 10 minutes. Lather up your head, scrub the rest of your body, and then rinse your head. It'll give more time for the chemicals to take affect.
Avoid wearing a hat - that tends to make it worse because it traps oils.
I've also heard people say that when they drink lots of water that helps, medically I'm not sure how, but hey, go with what works right?

I had dandruff for years and finally got rid it using a product named "Triatop". The problem is that Triatop is not distributed in the USA. I live in Los Angeles, so I can go to Tijuana Mexico and buy a bottle for about 15 dollars US.
I had a bad dandruff for over 10 years. Then I used this product once a day for one week and then about once a week for a year. I haven't had dandruff since and my scalp looks fine.

The only way to control dandruff is to control how much oil, or lack of is in your scalp. Unfortunately, having a lot of dandruff means you have too little. Using a product called Tea Tree will help immensly. Large bottles can be purchased at most hair places and also at Sally Beauty Supply.

First, be sure it's dandruff and not other things. Soem shampoos don't rinse out well and leave flaky bits behind which mimics dandruff. TRUE dandruff is not white and is actualy off white to dull yellow.
Always rinse your hair well and rub the scalp to get the soap out.

Dandruff really means that you have dry scalp. Maybe you should reduce the number of days in a week that you wash your hair. Use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. A light scalp oil may be okay but it depends on the texture of the hair.

You can't. Head and shoulders isnt that expensive and if your dandruff is that awful then it could be a good investment. You do not need to use it everyday. The bottle says that twice a week is good enough.

Woah, same thing happended to me, and I just wanted to like pull my hair out just to get rid of the dry skin! lol....
what I did... is... used a lot less of conditioner.. (and if you recentlly got new shampoo or condioter, as in like a month then go back to the old)
SCARTCH your head in the shower intill it hurts.. seriouslly.. it gets out all the dead skin... then shampoo and condtion... then scartch agian.....
when you get out of the shower... I towell dried it.. (bending over and rubbing it with towel fast) then while it was still damp a little, I combed and combed.. I would recamened this on a weekend where you have the time to keep brushing out any extra conditener in your hair...
and um, I think thats it.. good luck.. =]
