You do not need to break up with him just because you guys are going to be apart. You might be the best thing that happens to that dude, it sure sounds like it to me. If he really wants you, he'll make that known by calling you and making time for you. If he does not, drop that ham and egg er and find someone who will appreciate a young lady like you. Believe you me, young Lady's with that kind of attitude are hard to find!!!!!

I wouldn't call it a breakup so much as a separation. But not only will you be hurting him, you can hurt yourself too. Dealing with long - distance relationship can cause a lot of stress because both of your class schedules could conflict each others free time, worrying if the other is being faithful, your relationship isn't strong enough since you two have been dating for 6 months. The separation might be painful for you two, but it help prevent a lot of other emotional distress between you two. But don't just go on this random person's comment, talk to him and everything will work out.

Here's a tip...
anytime you make a statement followed by the word "But" just go ahead and remove everything before the "but", take out the reference to any other person and place yourself into it, for example:
Instead of, " I really LOVE him but i feel as though we need to be apart because i don't want him to miss out on all life has to offer"
You would say, "I fell as though I need to be apart because I don't want to miss out on all life has to offer"
That would be a more accurate statement in all reality being that you don't have a clue what all that really would mean to him and can only identify with what applies to you 100%

hmmm..... I would listen to "freebird" about 10 times and then go talk to him.... if you set love free and it comes back it was ment to be. Otherwise you might find happiness that you didn't know existed. Another good thing is that when ppl are apart, they grow on their own. Learn different things and become different and better people than they are now. If you two are apart then you can live your own lives for a while and experience a different life, that maybe you could share with each other further down the road. Keeps life interesting, and that is key.
