walk up to her locker at school and casually ask her if somebody is taking her to the prom. if she say's no then say would you like for me to take you to the prom?

Does the buddy know that that's thoroughly platonic and not in any respect a "date"? Just do it. Are you going to think about for the rest of your life "If I ask this girl will she say no?" You don't want that flying around in your mind. It's better off going and getting it over with. What happens happens, and if you only see her at school get her way from her friends, ask her for a moment of her time to hear you out. Just be calm and straight forward.

I think that you should go up and ask her when she is alone in the hallways. You could have one of your friends do it, or get her number and call her. I really hope that she says yes! ps: when you ask her, look in her eyes so she knows that you are serious, and don't feel bad if she says no, because if you play your cards right and she turns you down, then she is not worth it and you deserve someone better.
I hope she will go with you!

Take a risk you have nothing to lose!! Suggest for two of her friends and two of yours to go out to the movies together and once you find the right time, ask her!! And if she feels that the gathering went well and she had fun during the whole gathering she will accept!! : )

If you don't ask her then you'll never know just ask her if she has a date to the prom if she says,"no" then ask he if she would like to go with you.
