The Iraqis did have an air force but it was rendered useless by bombing and constant fly overs over 12years to keep it on the ground .Air force tactics now have made the dog fight more or less obsolete and the modern fighters usually take out opponents without even being in visual range.

No the last true dog fights were during the Falkland War, between the RAF and Royal Navy Harriers and the Argentinian Super Entendard fighters.

what the hell was the bloke a couple of posts up going on about the RAF Regiment?

These days 'dog-fighting' is unlikely. I suppose it might just happen but most modern aircraft are armed with missiles which are used once the target is acquired many miles away. I guess eventually most aircaft will be remotely piloted which should please the Americans as it will the more so represent a computer game.

I think we did in the Falklands campain as the Argy's hadf and Airforce but recently no!
Iraq did have some planes but sensibly they stayed on the ground to be shot errh...up...no...down.....hmm! what is the word that is a puzzle?

In the Falklands there was lots of dog fighting but nowadays the RAF just fight off the Americans that are trying to shoot them in the back.

No they don't dog fight any more, with modern weaponry and the shear speed they travel at, its dam near imposable.

Yes, the RAF Regiment do actually fight. i.e. Northern Ireland, but there RAF Regiment is mainly to protect airfields.
