How does the injector work to get water into a boiler when it already has high pressure inside.

An injector uses Bernoulli's principle to trade the velocity of the steam against pressure. First the steam is made to flow more quickly by being made to flow through a venturi. This reduces the pressure of the steam, enabling it to suck up water from the inlet. The steam and water mixture is then expanded, reducing velocity and increasing pressure to a point that it is greater than the boiler pressure. The steam and water mixture can then enter the boiler. Additional energy is also obtained from the enthalpy of the steam as it condenses on meeting the cold water from the inlet, which increases the pressure further. It all boils down (sorry!) to conservation of energy (kinetic versus potential) and this is what Bernouli's principle is all about.

You use a feed pump. Either a positive displacement or centrifugal pump the feed pressure for a boiler running at about 600psi has to be about 750psi. The feed water is usually heated in an economiser before it enters the boiler drum.

You will need to get what is called a "Boiler feedwater pump" if the City Water does not have enough pressure to inject into the boiler.

That pump needs to overcome the pressure inside the boiler.

Based on your question, it appears that you are using (wasting) the steam....open system.

If that is not the case, once the boiler is filled (site glass check) you would not need to add any water...closed system.

Hope that helps!

The boilers I've worked with used a steam turbine driven multi-stage centrifugal pump to inject the feed water (via economisers) into the upper steam drum that operated at 630 psi (about 45 atm.)

Injection was more of an old way ,u can just use a ac pump.
