sometimes with hcv infection the doctor relies on the ALT and AST levels...this is not reliable to go on, specifically if the ALT and AST levles are not elevated.

as a natural occurance with hcv, sometimes the alt and ast levles do not show an elevation, yet the person is still infected.

you need to do an actual test to check for antibodies for hcv to know whether or not your infected.

there are other causes for high bilirubin....just make sure you talk with your doctor and have him make sure of the awareness of normal alt and ast levles where hcv is concerned.

i had for the most part over a ten year battle with symtpoms, yet most of the time my alt and ast levels appeared normal.
this led the doctor to think it was not my liver....however, finally at age 34, they did an antibody test and i was positive for hcv.

good luck.
fasting would not cause a lower or higher outcome.
if the fasting was done as part of the test you had great....but if you practice fasting, it's is not wise to do if your hcv infected.

good luck.
