I was watching this A&E special about Satan and apparently The Church of Satan doesn't really believe in the Devil. They only believe in the concept of Satan's defiance of God. Are there any Satanist in here and is that an accurate description of your beliefs?

Satanists that use the devil as a Symbol are called LaVeyan Satanists, and no - they don't believe in the Devil.

Then you have Theistic Satanists. Some are reverse-Christian devil-worshippers (though still not as evil as Hollywood would have you believe) and others worship Satan as a deity symbolic of numerous things from a non-Christian point of view.

That's pretty much true. The majority of Satanists reject a deity; there is a minority of Satanists known as "theistic Satanists" who do believe Satan to be a sort of god (or often, one god among many), but they are far from the Satanic mainstream.

My best friend's a Satanist and gave me quite an education.

There's two forms of Satanism. Theistic and LaVeyan. Laveyan Satanists don't believe in an actual Satan. LaVeyan Satanism is more about self worship.

Yes, that is correct. Satanists are often confused or lumped together with Devil worshipers, those who actually worship Satan.

the backside of your faith become written via Romantics, in 1650. They defined devil (the biblical devil) as an allegory representing a disaster of religion, individualism, unfastened will, know-how and enlightenment. in the 1960's Satanism separated in 2 non secular developments: - Atheists ; taking devil as an emblem of particular features of the human nature. - Theists ; venerating devil as a God and believing in magic. maximum of inauspicious Rock and Heavy steel artists/bands are certainly atheist or non secular skeptics. They use satanic symbols and references for entertainment purpose and sweetness fee to make extra money.

I am not a satanist myself, but from what I have read about it, you are correct...They don't worship Satan, but rather try to take on his role as questioner.

So if they are defying God, they must believe in Him. What an odd belief. So Satanist must be that friend in the car with you who won't suggest a place to eat, but always has something negative to say about every suggestion.
