I really want to help others, and i got A's and B's in college...so I am smart enough to learn the procedures.
But are nurses always dumped on and blamed?
Will paperwork and politics get in the way of helping humanity?

Yes, in my book it is.

Nursing is a broad field with lots of opportunities to grow and advance. The best show care and compassion and are good patient advocates. They get to know the patients they care for in ways that others can't. They find gratification in knowing that their job is a challenging, but worthy one. They know that not all patients thank them verbally. Without them, medicine would grind to a virtual standstill.

Nurses get dumped on for a variety of reasons. One is that they are under the direction a physician. Physicians don't like to be wrong (and their patients don't like it either). So sometimes they blame someone else. Other times, there are problems, not due to anyone fault, again nurses may get blamed. In most cases, physicians are venting their own frustration (or even their own incompetence). Don't take it personally; this is just crap rolling downhill. Without nurses, medicine would grind to a virtual standstill.

Physicians sometimes look down on nurses, but they shouldn't. Nurses do the jobs that physicians can't or won't. Without them, medicine would grind to a virtual standstill.

About paperwork:
Bureaucrats will always hold the purse strings. Lawyers will always sue. Companies will always try to maximize profits. Politicians will always try to ride the wave of popular opinion. Therefore yes, paperwork and politics will always be in the way of helping humanity, but it may not always be for the worst. Sometimes these challenges force us to look beyond what we do, or to criticize what we do. Sometimes, we find a better way. So it isn't always bad.

I am not a nurse but I work closely with nurses at the hospital. Being a nurse will always be a noble profession. Nurses can help patients with everything from a serious injury, to a heart attack to a small laceration. In very few medical professions fo you truly get to know your patients. The way a nurse treats a patient can calm that person or make them fear even worse. I will admit the pay it not great and you are buried with paperwork and blame but its worth it.

Being a nurse is a good job. The paperwork isn't so bad. The main issue is that there is not enough nurses to go around! But there are many perks to the profession, like time off during the week, flexible schedules, the ability to get a job anywhere in the world, a very good chance at getting a full-time job in your field right out of university.

Paperwork and politics may get in the way of helping humanity, but whether or not th profession is noble or not is dependent solely upon you and how you perform and care about your task.

It sounds like you really want to help people, therefore, with noble intentions, your career as a nurse will be fulfilling.

If you let the flak of paperwork and politics shoot down your career, jade your mind, or destroy your eagerness to help others, then yes, it will... but if you steel your mind to those things, lower your head, and cut through the man-made muck, and keep yourself united with your noble goal, the lives you save and help will be blessed by your interaction.

Good luck, I can tell you are going to be good at it. Keep your head above the water.

Continue your education in this area.

Why should you stop at nursing, aim higher! Follow your heart.

If helping others is your aim, also see related careers - if its with the young, elderly or whoever - decide an area where you are at your best and continue, now is your time to study. You have a lifetime to work ahead of you.
