Toby is a perfect name for a male pug. I recommend you leave it at that to cut down on confusion. Two syllable names for dogs and cats works best.

Most of my animals have "middle names" that I really only use for the purpose of yelling. It seems to work better for me when I have to call them in from the back of the property. Sometimes when I'm talking to them I use the middle name, but not very often.

If I had a Toby, I would make his middle name be Tyler. I remember a character in a Disney story book I read as a child. He was Toby Tyler (which flows quite nicely, I think) and he went off to join the circus. As with most Disney stories, it was pretty cute. Like pugs are.

I gave my cat the middle name of the city she was born in and rescued from - Elizabeth (NJ). I think giving a pet a middle name is cute and certianly is the name Toby!:) A pet should be a part of the family and should be treated one (I for one hate when people give pets stupid names such as "Fluffy", or "Kitty" , or "Stinky" or "Bark", etc. - science states that when giving a pet a rude or silly name it does reflect to the animal how you feel since they can understand voice tones). Why not give him a "proper dog show" name? Such as "Tough Tuggies Toby" and call him Toby for short. Or do you have a deceased pet that you loved? Give their 1st name as a middle name. Toby has the vowel ending like Bobby, so any of the "southern" names would go - like Toby Joe or Toby Jay, etc. Any normal names, such as Michael, Matthew, or Jacob goes with Toby. The possibilities are endless!:) Good luck and kisses to your cute pug.

I have a pug his name is Mr. bullwinkle the 37th (we have a boston named rocky thats why he picked bullwinkle)

You can give him a middle name but you probly won use it they are just for looks on his papers. So if you plann to regester him make it elebrate like sr. toby of (you town) Or tobys the little smushy guy.
it does not ahve to make any sence eather. I have seen dogs with names like spot the roaring lion or Chi thirty eleven.

Have fun with it Your not gonna be yelling come here toby michael jackson's jeasus juce or anything you will end up just calling him toby, t or what ever nick name sticks.
We call bullwinkle Mr. B, BW, and B.

Oh and for anyone who thinks dog cloths are dumb they do have a reason. Dogs get cold just like people, small dogs with short hair get very cold very fast, some yorkies and other dogs have very thin hair and need there skin protected from the sun. shoes are good for the pads on a dogs feet if they have something covering there feet they wont crack and dry out so easly.

Both my boys have shirts and coats (rocky will be getting a custom leather coat this xmas) not because i think its cute and funny but because they get cold. rocky gets leather because he is one growing and i wont have to buy a new one later. it will be custom because all of the coats we have bough are eather to big around the legs and he will get tangled up, or they are to small.
Personaly id rather my dog have cloths, be warm, and be able to play outside when tis cold then to have him bolt right back in the house and hold his pee in as long as he can because he hates the cold.

Well I have a pug and just for her registration purposes I gave her a middle name, Macie Lou is her first and middle name. It is your dog and you should name it whatever you want. Might I suggest maybe using a middle name that is part of their family. I used Lou because her breeder names all of her dogs Linda Lou's (name). I can never name a dog until I can see it. Good Luck.

Your question is not dumb since some kennels require that the name of the pub starts with a certain letter of the alphabet or that the name of the father is used in the naming of your pub.
Now to your Toby (have one of my own and he is a chihuahua), since it is a pugh Mobby is a good choice also.

Awww, I love naming AKC style! My parents had a lab and named him Danhauer's Sir Radlee. We called him Radlee. Anyway, so maybe your last name then Sir, Squire, Sargent, Mister or some other male form and then of course Toby.
