..i've been dating my best friend for over a year now and, frankfully, i need a break....we argue all the time now and it's just not fun anymore....anyway...i met this new guy who's NOTHING like my current boyfriend but i'm really bad at change and i'm scared that me and my best friend won't get along and talk as much anymore....should i just go for it and hope that he's a good enough friend to respect it??...i've already told him i need a break....and he said that's fine...should i take the leap?

I think if you wanna break things off with your first one then do that. But the second guy should have anything to do with the first. They are two sepatate people. Maybe give some time before getting with the second guy. Just be sure you aren't looking at this new guy as a savior from your first guy is what I'm trying to say. Just take things slow and do what will make you happy. Your best friend would probably respect things more if you don't end up with a new man soon.

There's a difference between taking a break and jumping into a new relationship with another guy. You current boyfriend will probably jump straight to it and will be hurt. If you want to see this other guy - be honest with your boyfriend and don't call it a "break" it's a breakup. Be honest about how much you care and want to remain friends, but you just not sure where the relationship is going and you want to see what else is there. As far as being afraid of change - it's a part of life. In some instances, you just have to close your eyes and jump!

I agree that if things aren't going well, it's best to get out of it before it gets worst. But, you don't need to jump into another relationship so soon. It would be best to be friends with this guy first cause you don't want to jump into another bad relationship.

Yes go for it. Sounds like it's not working out in your current situation. If you have the choice to be happy then make that choice.

I think that you should go for it because I'm sure that if he really is your best friend he would want for you to be happy.
