ah, yes. the threefold law...
it's part of the wiccan rede
"All good that a person does to another returns three fold in this life; harm is also returned three fold."
"Ever mind the rule of three
Three times your deeds return to thee
This lesson well, thou must learn,
Thee only gets what thou does earn."

The 3-fold Law (as wiccans call it) does not come exactly three (sometimes 1, 2, 3 or more, or less)...it is just a simple way of conveying the idea of karma (law of return).

You can only get out of a system what you put into a system. Where people are involved this is oversimplistic. It is unrealistic to give a value for a return on karma etc.
What you *can* argue is that if you live a good life, people will respond to that in some ways and you will get something back.
Or to be really colloquial about it; you can't make good wine with bad grapes.

You are asking a silly question.
If there was a rule of 3, due to karma, then the religious background from where it came from would be correct as well since it spawned from it.
Since no-one can prove religion right or wrong, no-one can prove a rule of 3 right or wrong.

Since we only get 2 parents, I guess '3' represents abundance.
You can build as much or as little significance around that as you like.

It's similar to the concept that the karmic "seeds" we sow are going to come back to us bigger than the "seed" itself. Think of a sunflower seed... when the causes and conditions arise for that seed to ripen and sprout, the result is always the same and the seed and much larger...

It's a Wiccan belief, along the lines of "every action has an equal and opposite reaction"...
