i know their name and the branch they are in. what other information do i need

Your best bet would be to contact their family. The military is not going to give you this sort of information unless you can convince them you have a really good reason.

If you have access to AKO, you can find them pretty fast. If not, you'll have to call the post locator. But you will need a SSN.

Family is also a good way.

Their duty station would probably be necessary. So if you knew their base or ship or whatever that would be part of the email address most likely.

usually, you'll need their base. One example of a AF member in England would be:
john.doe@mildenhall.af.mil
Don't know about the other branches, but they should be similar.
Also, it will change if they are reserve or guard, just to let you know.

If they are in the army and you are in the army you can look them up on AKO. otherwise not unless you know somebody who can do it for you.

you can not locate someone

you can ask them where they are at, and they will tell you.
