there are the steps for u . hope it helps
* STEP 1: To straighten hair, begin by shampooing, conditioning and towel-drying hair.
* STEP 2: Apply a heat protectant product to your hair, paying special attention to the ends.
* STEP 3: Place a quarter-size dollop of straightening balm in your palm. Rub your palms together to distribute the product over your hands, then massage it evenly through hair.
* STEP 4: Comb through your hair with your fingers while gently blow-drying it on a low setting. This removes excess water.
* STEP 5: Pull your hair into three sections, two at the sides and one at the back. Clip the two sides up.
* STEP 6: Select a small portion of the hair from the unclipped section to straighten.
* STEP 7: Using a thick, round brush and beginning at the roots, gently pull the brush through the hair to the ends while blow-drying it. Pull the hair away from your head, stretching and straightening it as you go.
* STEP 8: First pull the brush through the underside of your hair so that you expose it directly to the heat of the dryer. Once that area is mostly dry, switch to the top of the hair.
* STEP 9: Keep the tension consistent and evenly distribute heat over the section of hair you're working on. This ensures uniform hair texture and prevents overdrying of certain areas.
* STEP 10: Once that portion of hair is straightened, continue selecting and blow-drying small portions until that section is dry and straight.
* STEP 11: Repeat the process on the two other sections to straighten your entire head of hair.
Tips & Warnings
* Always point the dryer down as you blow-dry hair; blowing hair upward can cause frizzies.
* Tame flyaway hair with an antifrizz serum or pomade. Place a few drops in your hand, rub gently to distribute it, then apply it your hair according to the product instructions.
* To achieve flat hair, finish styling with a ceramic flat-iron designed for hair after following the steps above. Choose the heat setting for your hair type, and allow flat-iron to warm before using. Select portions of hair, as per blow-drying directions, and slide heated flat-iron along hair, beginning close to the roots and going past the ends of hair, repeating if needed to fully flatten hair.
Overall Tips & Warnings
* As with all electrical devices, be cautious when using blow-dryers and flat-irons around water and/or children. Unplug blow-dryer and flat-iron after use, and keep the flat-iron out of reach until cooled to prevent burns.

I have super thick, super curly hair and you better believe I straighten it! I would suggest first getting a straightening or smoothing shampoo and conditioner. It helps reduce damage. Then I would get a protective spray. Clip up your hair and pull out little sections at a time. Spray first, then straighten. Don't hold the straightener on one spot of hair for longer than a second. If you have to go over it again, do so. Whenever you're done get a finishing type creme and put just a little bit in your hair, mostly on the ends. This will keep your hair straight and smooth longer and prevent frizz. Hope this helps!

shampoo and condition your hair (and if you're planning to straighten often, it'd be best to use a deep conditioning masque once a week). Dry your hair completely using the type of styling product of your choice. Anything with too strong of a hold will make it hard to run the flat-iron through, so stick with lighter hold products, avoiding gels and hairsprays. Make sure your flat-iron is nice and hot (if there is a temp. gauge, put it close to the highest). Take smaller sections of your hair and spray on a heat protectant spray - you can use any one that you find, but I recommend Aquage's Beyond Body Thermal Styler. Then run the flat-iron through that same section quickly, not leaving on the hair for any period of time. If it's not straight enough, run the iron through again quickly, but never hold it on the hair! When you're finished, use a serum to combat frizz, and maybe a texturizing wax or a paste to give some texture and definition. Good Luck!!!

wash and condition hair thoroughly.
apply a SMALL amount of an anti-frizz serum (using more than needed will cause your hair to look oily after straightening)
flip head over and dry hair with a blow dryer (if your hair is curly then u might need to use a round brush as you dry your hair)
next pin up all your hair leaving a small row at the nape of your neck loose. Straighten this portion and work you way up.
Once you finish the hair at the back of you head, pin up bangs, then part your hair the way you want.
After parting, you will straighten each section of hair on both sides of the part separately - using the 'pin-up' routine, starting at the bottom and working your way up. Once you have reached the part on both sides, release your bangs and either blow dry with hair dryer for more volume or straighten with flat iron for a sleeker look.

I wonder, if you are African American, if you have a perm or not? If you have a perm I would advise you not to use a flat iron (that is what I call them, a.k.a. straightening iron) unless your hair can withstand just about any amount of heat. I am 21 years old and have been using flat irons since I was in middle school. I started straightening my hair with them after I had tried numerous perms, because none of them would get my hair as straight as I wanted, because I have thick hair commonly referred to as coarse hair. I didn't notice anything at first but after about a year my hair started coming out and so I decided to stop getting perms. I have been pressing my hair for about five years and I also use flat irons but I have found that they don't take out my hair as much as before.
I try not to use the flat irons more than 2 or 3 times in one week and I tie my hair with a silk scarf to make it lay down and keep from having to straighten it as much due to sweating while I sleep, steam from showers, etc. If you are going to use flat irons you should take one-a-day or centrum vitamins, use infusium 23 leave-in treatment and a good hair grease such as royal crown to promote regular hair growth. Because I guarantee that your hair will fall out but it will won't be as noticeable if you do other things to take care of it including not blow drying your hair but combing it out while it is wet. After I washed my hair I condition it, put the infusium in it, part it in sections, comb it out, and let it air dry.
The routine I follow for straightening my hair is just parting half-inch wide sections that are no thicker than a quarter of an inch, as I said my hair is thick which means the strands of my hair are thicker in comparison with someone who has thin hair such as my little sister who also flat irons her hair but she can part slightly bigger sections and her hair will still be straighter than mine. We also use vaseline in our hair because we have tried everything from beeswax, gel, to hair dressing pomade to slick out hair down and none of these things seem to work better for us than vaseline. I usually add the vaseline after I flat iron my hair because I don't want my hair to do sizzle. I let the flat iron run down my hair slowly so that I won't have to keep straightening it, the amount of time it will take depends on the length and thickness of your hair. My hair is slightly past my shoulders and it takes me about 8-10 seconds to run it through my hair from root to tip.
