When the bible specifically says that you shouldn't worship false idols, why do Catholics worship the Virgin Mary and such? If there is only one true God and he says you shouldn't pray to others, isn't that exactly what Catholics are doing? And by the way, who gave them the right to make a human a saint? A human CANNOT declare whether someone is a saint or not because we're all sinners. Only God is supposed to be able to have that kind of power. And why is the chuch so afraid to recognize that Jesus was a human and could have been married and had a child? I was raised christian but i just don't understand why so many Catholics worship false idols and feel they can make up the religious rules. Can someone please explain this to me?

I understand what you are saying because at a Catholic wedding they kneel to the statue of Mary, correct?
God is the only one I will pray to.
Amen

This could get heated.

If you read the Bible, you will see that there are many things Catholics do that the Bible says not to.
Catholicism is based on tradition.
Some Bible is used. Mostly tradition.
In order to see the tradition you must read the New Testament of the Bible and know it. If you do not read, you will not know it.

I have written a thesis on the Catholic Church. A dissertation if you will. It was titled The Catholic Church verses the Bible. If you Know anything about calibration,
you have to have a standard. The standard is correct. You measure something against the standard. If there is a discrepancy, it is the thing being measured, not the standard.
The Bible is the standard.

You know what its people like you that make me so angry, US CATHOLICS don't worship Mary we pray to her for guidance, I mean she is the Mother of the Son of God so ya know she does have and importance, she could have said no i won't birth Your Son and then we wouldn't a have even been saved!!!And yes God has the right to make humans Saints but the Catholic Church is guided by the Holy Spirit so it can't be wrong, and they become saints because people know they are Holy and when we pray to them we make God happy because they are friends of God and when we respect them we are pleasing God. And yes Jesus was human but he had two natures, human nature and divine nature. If you trace it all the way back the Catholic Church was the first true Church before all these other wacked up religions started.

At the top of the Catholic system is the belief that God is essentially unknowable, therefore we can only hypothesis what God would want or say if we could know. This means the boys at the top get to change the bible or anything that isn't working anymore. The goal is to stay in existence after all. And since God must want them to exist, they need to do what works and if it works, AH HA! That must be exactly what God wants!

Okay, so, two parts here:

1) Mary and Saints - Catholics DO NOT worship anyone other than God as the Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit). Mary as a special place in our hearts and faith as the mother of Jesus, but she isn't God. Never was, never will be. We Catholics (myself included) are lazy in our speech. We say we pray TO saints, but what we are really doing is asking people who lived and died on this earth to pray with us to God. It's a bit of a psycological thing. Have you ever gone to a grave and talked to your dead grandparents? It's much the same.

What is a saint? A saint is simply a person we believe lived a good and holy life who is an example to the rest of us. Period, end of report. Yeah, the Vatican keeps an official list but whoop-dee-doo... saints are simply models for the rest of us, people to look up to who had to deal with life exactly the way the rest of us do.

2) Jesus and marriage - Catholics believe Jesus was/is/ever will be 100% human as well as 100% divine. I personally have no problem with the idea of Jesus having had sex and whatnot. Heck, fine, even marriage. The issue of Jesus having had kids brings up all sorts of theological stickiness - what does it mean for God himself (in the form of Jesus) to procreate? Does that detract from the divinity of Jesus?

Maybe not the answers you wanted, but in this limitted space, I hope it helps.

No, no one can explain it to you because already have your mind made up. You already have a set opinion as to what Catholics are and that's not going to change with someone trying to show you why there is errors in your thinking.

If you truly want to understand Catholics then visit a church, pick up their teachings. Read what the religion actually says. Visit this website http://www.newadvent.com Learn, don't just base your opinions on what other people tell you.

And why does Jesus have to be married with children? Catholics don't find that scary - just silly.

We are not praying to the virgin Mary, we are asking the virgin Mary to pray for us -- that is why she is called an "intercessor"

*edit* sorry I missed most of the rest of your questions. Let's see: the church has a lengthy process for canonization of saints, who says humans "CANNOT" declare someone a saint?, the church has NO scriptural or historical evidence to show that Jesus was married...

Because we can. If it offends you then read a book or go turn on the TV and do something to get it off your mind for a while.
If one of the false idols or so-called saints has hurt you in any way, then file a complaint with the Vatican.
