I live about 30 miles south of the canadian border. I think I feel more polite when the wind blows southerly.

HAHA!!! Just made two stereotype remarks there.
When you get out of the US, there's actually a lot of polite people.
Atheists, since they don't really believe in God, don't really have their own sense of moral values. They can have their own sets of values but it would most likely be ethical more than moral.
Because of this, they do not discriminate people just because they belong to a particular group. At least they're more likely not to.

Not really, we just don't follow silly books that tell us to hate and kill people. We don't experience any divisive attitudes about in-groups vs out-groups. There are no science books or non-religious moral philosophies saying "kill those who don't believe in you."
Compared to people who believe in the bible (which advocates murder, slaughter, prejudice, hatred, and the eradication of all races except for the jews), atheists will almost invariably be more tolerant and polite.

I'm Canadian...but I'm not that polite. I do the biting sarcasm thing a lot. Most of my friends here are American, they're very cool people and some of them are more polite than I am. More patient, for sure.

I'm not sure about the standard you use for politeness. As far as your poll goes (Are they all Canadians), I see grave error in your method. I'm a sociologist, so I know.

I did not find the one that called me "the ignorant pig spawn of born again hippocrites" last week all that kind.
I do not find him to be representative of atheist anymore than I consider "fundies" to be Representative of Christianity.

Atheists are hated more than any other group in American society.
Americans may have prejudices against Mexicans, blacks, Arabs, etc, but the disdain that most Americans have towards atheists is the worst. I can't think of a time when an atheist friend of mine wasn't engaged in a debate the MOMENT they opened their mouths and said they are atheists. Americans understand radical Muslims bcause at least they believe in something (however misguided they may think it), but they can't come to terms with someone who doesn't have any faith.
That's why they are so polite. They have to be.
