talk to her. stop whining . have you ever thought that maybe she is proud of your drawings and so she wanted to show you off? it's not the end of the world.

Your mother is simply behaving as millions of parent have before her - showing off the talents of her beloved child to the world. Obviously she thinks your drawings are not all that bad if she thinks other people would like to see them. This is a very deep compliment if you stop to think about.

It is just a shame that while she is obviously proud of your achievements, she does not respect you enough as a person to abide by your express wishes. What is worse is when an adult does not keep their promise to a child. If she says she will not send them then she should stick to it because demonstrating this kind of behaviour is part of her bringing you up correctly. Not sticking to what we say we will do is both manipulative and destroys trust, which is the most important aspect of any relationship.

You will, in future, just have to draw in secret and keep your drawings locked away until your mother can keep her promises and not send them away against your wishes. Of course, you could always try to compromise and draw one or two pictures specifically for her to send or put up or do with what she will and then insist that the rest be left alone - this would, of course, make you the adult and her the child.

Think your mum is just so proud of you but know that is no consolation if she is doing something you don't want her to do. I do agree they are your drawings and therefore your property. There are many types of locked portfolios you can get that you can store your drawings and no fear of them being removed. Even a little padlock on a cupboard door and you hide the key? However, now and again if you think a drawing is particularly good why don't you ask her if she would like to have it to do what she wishes with it? If she sends it to her artist friends fair enough. I am afraid we mums do get carried away with our kids achievements and do tend to forget how we felt at your age. She is doing it out of love for you but I do agree a promise is a promise and she really shouldn't have broken it to you.

It seems like your Mom, is not to be trusted in your Book, or she wants to help you by showing your drawings to her friends. Maybe she is not doing it to make you angry, rather because she Loves her daughter a lot is her way in trying to give you a push in the right direction. Have a daughter/Mother talk with her and tell her that you know she is only trying to help you, but, you would rather she did not do that anymore. here's hoping she will listen to reason and will your stuff alone, or buy a strong box with keys to be on the safe side. Good Luck.

Who says you can't draw? Personally, if it is something you enjoy, continue doing so... BUT talk to your mom about how what she is doing is making you feel.... She made a promise to you... and you should expect her to keep that promise, just as she would expect you to keep on made to her. Make sure you point that out. There are time's that parent's can't keep promises they have made due to time issues.. money issues or such.. but this sounds like she is just looking for other's opinions..... wrong way to go about it.. with out you agreeing.

I hope you can get this situated with your mom .. and by all mean's.. keep drawing.... no matter what the world says... you enjoy... that is all that matters.....

I believe your mother shows her artist friends your drawings in order for them to give advice on your technique. And advice is always beneficial, especially when heeded.

Forgive your mother for being proud of your talent. The drawings you believe are bad, she believes are good.

just talk to your mom and tell her you dont want her to send them to her friends. She proble is proud of them and likes to share the bad ones. Maby she just wants to be funny and play a joke! Dont hate her friends just because they might be a better drawer then you and DONT hate them because they just saw your bad drawings. I isnt the end of the world! Get over it!

Hide your pictures? And bear it, parents don't get better with age. You could ask her if she expects you to trust her when she says something and does something different. Surely she wants to raise you to be trustworthy and honest - and should be setting a good example?

There again, she obviously is very proud of your abilities, and you are lucky to have that from her! :)

You must be talented and she realises you for that. Just know she loves you and she wants to show the world she cares for you. If you still dont want her to show it, have a talk with her and ask her for some space. But be nice to her. Dont take silly things to heart
