Dosen't this proves Christianity is not true? What do you(christians think)? I just got it from :http://www.evilbible.com/Jesus_Lied.htm

) And Jesus answered and said to them, "Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, `Be taken up and cast into the sea,' it will happen. "And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive." (Matthew 21:21-22 NAS)

4) Amen, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it shall be done for him. Therefore I tell you, all that you ask for in prayer, believe that you will receive it and it shall be yours. (Mark 11:24-25 NAB)

First off, I'm going to repost your verses in the King James Version, as I believe that to be the most accurate of English translations.

"Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. And all athings, whatsoever ye shall bask in cprayer, believing, ye shall receive." (Matthew 21: 21-22)

"Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them."(Mark 11:24)

Now, being Mormon, I have an extra verse that goes along with this teaching:

And whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, which is right, believing that ye shall receive, behold it shall be given unto you. (3 Nephi 18:20)

That is the clarifier for me, as the Lord intended because he knew many of the truths of the Bible would be lost over time due to things such as mistranslation.

You must ask in righteousness, wanting the thing for the Lord's glorification, not your own. If you just want to do it to show off, or prove someone wrong, it's not in righteousness that you are asking.

Mountain is symbolic of 'a big problem'. He's making a point about faith. But you have to really believe or it doesn't work. If you think you believe just by repeating a thing multiple times you're wrong. You have to read about Jesus, find He is who He claims, read what the bible says, gradually build up faith. There are people of christian faith who have done very miraculous things.

Jesus was choosing the 'mountain' as in the Old Testament there is a prophecy about the Messiah splitting a valley near Jerusalem when He comes. He may have been going that way when He said that, since it was on his disciples mind. That will happen in the 2nd coming, as then Jerusalem will be being attacked by merciless assailants and God will show His wrath.

The website author claims it is a lie because Christians can not convert just through pray alone. Which is a pretty lame example. To pray for another to be converted and expect it to be right there and then is to take free will away. If he had bothered to read that part - then at least he would have come up with something not contridictory.

Not saying I believe the bible. I think it's pretty far-fetched in some ways, especially since these things have never happened.

Of course a Christian could argue that it could only be done by a person with no doubt (or sin) and since we are human we cannot reach that state. So, while these things are possible they cannot be done by us.

In Matthew 21:21:22, as everybody could see if you had put in the preceding verses, Jesus has performed something the disciples found marvelous. What He says in your cite is basically that you, too, can do these things if you believe and do not doubt. He's talking to specific people.

Mark is the same thing. These are parables. They are also addressed to specific people. The Bible is full of parables. Apparently the author of your website does not know what a parable is and the site is intellectually dishonest junk.

Erm yer, did u SEE the bit "if you have faith and do not doubt...."? Well, in another part of the Bible, Jesus says, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, u can move a mountain through prayr".

Doesnt this say something about us. If we cant move a mountain or somehting of the sorth through prayr, dont we have such little faith?

Our faith is smaller than a mustard seed (which is TINY) and we doubt God. Easy as pie. THAT is y we cant move moutains, but God is soooooooooooooooo wonderfuly merciful that He still lets us itno heaven, even though we have sooooooooooo little faith. See, so the Bible DOES tell the trueth, all u have to do is concentrate when u read it....if u read it at all (hopefully u dont just read things on dodgy websites and beleive them, do u?)

GOD IS GREAT!!! ; D

wow! I never knew www.evilbible.com was written by such ignorant neanderthals!

honestly, can't they think at a higher level than 3rd grade? Literally, spiritually, metaphorically, it can be true. People have been healed supernaturally by prayer: seems like a "metaphorical mountain" to me.

besides, when you isolate a scripture, you lose the context, and its whole meaning. Read on. it says "And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have aught against any: that your Father also which is in Heaven may forgive your tresspasses"--prayer comes with criteria. The entire passage speaks about faith.

The original bible was written in Hebrew and Aramaic. Those are just two translations into English from the original or another translation. I don't see where the two passages are different enough to create controversy?

*edit* sorry I should slow down -- the two Gospels are believed to have information from the same source -- they are two of the "synoptic" gospels

You shouldn't research your religion on the internet because many websites feed you lies and untruths. If you seriously feel that there is some truth in the website, then you should tell a priest (or a person with sufficient religious knowledge) of your concerns. The website is primarily propaganda, just the name of it screams bias and prejudice. No one should ever insult another person's religion or its holy affiliates.

Only the people that read it with doubt are corrupted.
Those who read it looking for something wrong.
Those who read it, unbelieving.

I think that it is sad, they have nothing. They only have themselves and their breaking down bodies.
Headed for the hole in the ground.
It is the end for them. Something like the Sadducee's of long ago. They were very sad you see.
