I am considering either going into infantry or armor and I was wondering what the benefits of being in armor are except for the fact that you have a ride everywhere you go.
If I hear anythign regarding bush or anything anti war on this thread I will personally come to your house in a tank and demolish your residence.

What some good MOS's in ARMOR, what is better being a driver, trank crewman etc? How often do the tanks actually see battle, as often as an Infantryman?

Driving a tank is fun. However tanks are hot cramped and lots of heavy lifting. On my tanks the driver was responsible for inspecting and maintaining all hull and drivetrain components. A tank crewman will spend most of his time maintaining the tank. And maintaining that tank will come before anything else you want to do.

On the other hand - when you are moving cross-country in a tank it is a feeling unlike any other.

There is no middle ground to being on a tank - either you hate it or you love it.

My advice... the Army can take the fun out of anything. Before you sign up for the infantry or armor try to imagine all the BS you'll have to deal with just to move a piece of equipment. It's mind boggiling, but other then that the Army is great, I love it. Good luck

I was in armored units for about 8 years. 1984 to 1992. I never got to drive a tank. I drove a self propelled howitzer. Similar to a tank, just a heck of a lot bigger gun. They are a blast to drive. You can go through over over damn near anything.
I'm glad you want to serve your country. You'll be a lot safer in a tank than in the infantry.
