Im by no means racist to any ethnic group. I appreaciate different cultures and i've traveled to Africa, South east Asia, and Europe and i've seen and embraced different cultures. But people at church arent like that, We are the only black family in our church and alot of people especially the older generation tend to look @ us, I dont know if its envy or anger but they tend to imply that we might be "well off" but we are still n*gg**s. It doesnt bother me, because if anything I feel superior over them, they cant get over the fact that blacks arent 2nd class citizens anymore and that we are making more money than them. I dont hate whites, everyone at school is white and I dont have hatred for their race. Im happy being black, im not "black and proud" im just happy in my own skin and whites,latins,asians,..everyone needs to be happy in their own skin and move on from the past. Once we learn and embrace each of our cultures, racism wont be any issue.

But all the racism i've ever experienced has ALWAYS been in the church, never in school, or in public, it has always been in the church. I dont understand how so many so called "Christians" are so racist. I mean you are so quick to condem abortion and gays but when it comes to racism,,,,its okay to be a christian and still be racist. Segration is over everywhere EXCEPT the church, we have all white churches, all black churches, all Asian, Latin,e.tc. Christianity is supposed to bring us together in harmony not pull us apart by race. We are only building our fences higher and higher and we keep excluding other races in our religion and that is only pulling us back in time.

Im NOT racist, bro, if there is one thing that I try to live up to is to end this chain or racism that keeps getting passed down from generation to generation. Its all about exposure, most people who are racist arent exposed to the people they hate. Most racist white people dont have a personal relationship with a black person...the same with racist black people, And it makes sense, why would they want to form a relationship with someone they hate but once we start opening our eyes and we start interacting with people of different races and nationalities, we dont see them as cra****rs, or N**g*rs, or We*b*cks, or C*in*s, we see them as real people. I dont tolerate racism from any race because especially today ALOT of minorities think its okay to use counter racism, but its not because its only pulling us back, we need to move on from our past and stop seeing each other as black or white or latins or asians but as People of America.

Discerning sin isn't being racists. True Children of God are redeemed from their sins, and come from all nations.
I love diversity in people, because God does. That is why we are all different.
Self proclaimed Christians who are racist against their brother/sister in Christ because of color, aren't even Christian. It is written "How can someone hate their own brother/sister in Christ who they have seen and love God/Christ who they haven't seen (in the physical). You know that the Love of God isn't in that person who hates fellow Christians because of color. God isn't a respector of faces, so we shouldn't be.
Also, Christians love those not yet saved & lost in the world. Leading them to Gods love & saving grace.
I think that you have been wounded in the past. You have to give these wounds to God, and forgive. When someone curses you, envision a boomerang head your way, dip in Gods love & returned to sender. The hurt leaves and you don't get wounded new. Jesus said to bless those who curse you. Forgive others like Christ forgave you.
Wounds are sometimes hidden and come up in a topic. When a wound is touched on, you need to look up to Gods love & give the anxiety, etc. to God. Write about it. Yahoo answers & Questions have helped me much in this area. Because I have old wounds. But I can answer & write about something (of a sensitive nature in my past) and don't get wounded/ cut off or rejected, instead wounds get mended. The worst is to get a thumbs down or a question/ answer removed. (Mostly I go by the rules so I don't get items removed often.)

I dont feel like it is a Christian concern as much as culture.. The older generation came from a different point in history, on both sides of the fence... Now I think the new generation is coming around, although racism is still an issue.. You have the right attitude about it. But I hate to say it, as long as people like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton keep things stirred up. Society will be slower to "move on" as you say...

Wow, you are such a good person. Can I just stop to appreciate how tolerant and open-minded you are? Amazing how much you've traveled and how much more you know than the rest of us. You *should* feel superior to "us". You've earned it.
PS I've noticed that more and more, "racism" seems to be coming primarily from one group of people in America... Why is that? One group seems to do nothing but talk about the evils of "racism" while the rest of society sits back and wonders what in the world they're talking about. Could you help us understand why? Thanks.

I've never met a racist who claimed to be Christian, and if they do, they are part of Christendom, not Christianity.
besides, anyone who claims racism is okay by God is wrong. the Bible never gave people the right to be racial supremacists (slaves were those who sold themselves out to work for a roof over their heads and maybe some pay and were oftern of the same race as their masters). Also, Jesus told us to go out into all the world and preach the message to the gentiles. Does God sound racist to you?

You say it's the older people in church that are looking at you. I'm guessing you don't see many people from that generation at your school. So did you ever think that they are older and still stuck in their racisim ways. And the only place you see the older people IS at church. It isn't that Christians are racist, it's older people used to racist ways.

Its tough for any religious person who adheres to the Arabic religions. That part of the world has always been racist, and it is reflected in the documents collected to create the bible.
There will always be a racist element to the Church, because it exists in the writings used to establish the religion.

like in any religion, some christians are good people, and some are not. most christians who i have come in contact with are very hypocritical. look at the prison population, the overwhelming majority are christian. it unfortunate that you encounter racism at your place of worship. all you can do is set an example. show them how a true christian treats people. maybe they'll learn.

Christianity seems to foster an "us vs them" attitude that many Christians let cross over into other aspects of their life.
