I think like any other driver they need to actually prove something on a vehicle with 4 wheels before being given a cup ride. Maybe Lance Armstrong can come compete in Nascar he has won the tour de France like 7 times. So he is very successful on two wheels, under his own power. If that can be translated to driving a cup car, remains to be seen. I believe that a jump from one series to another is hard no matter what level you were at before you made the jump, Stewart was the 1997 IRL champion, how long was it before he won his first cup title. Seriously success translates over, but going from two wheels to four is a harder jump than going form open wheel to stock or vice versa.

Just wait until Bubba Stewart does everything there is to accomplish in motocross, you will see him in the cup series as well someday. The heart of a champion and desire to win are the two biggest things you can't teach. Obviously Carmichael and Stewart have those qualities. The other stuff (driving techniques) can be taught as long as the basic strategies of racing are understood. When champions in other forms of racing do all they can they will want the fame and money that NASCAR can provide. All other forms of racing wish they had the fan support that NASCAR enjoys.

Ricky Carmichael is starting out in a dirt car to prove himself. Nobody's just handing him a cup/busch ride.
I hadn't heard about Metzger. If they can drive then let'em drive. It doesn't bother me.

I experience too and have consistently wished to tension a race vehicle like those you notice with NASCAR. Its a tricky question. the two require some balls and dedication. you are able to placed somebody on a motorbike and practice them the fundamentals in one day. yet utilising doing a hundred and forty plus takes years to get good. one small decrease to rubble ought to deliver the vehicle tumbling down the track! So i could say NASCAR takes the cake with the difficulty, even nevertheless you're merely making left hand turns
