It depends on your upbringing. The law says you can gamble at 21 and as long as you are responsible, there should be no problem. Some people see it as a rite of passage.

I live in Reno, Nevada, and I can tell you that the Clubs don't make the enormous incomes they make by sending large amounts of winners out the door! Your odds of winning are small, at best! It might be fun to gamble like if you're on vacation, but if you make a habit of it, it may become an addiction and you can end up with zip, zero, nada! I've seen it happen way too many times. I don't gamble at all because of the shattered lives I've met along the way! Annie

Gambling is legal when you turn 21, but I wouldn't recommend it because people can become easily addicted to it like a drug, & it can cause people to lose their house or car, & they can gamble up their rent money & put gambling before anything else. Gambling is not a good thing. It can also ruin relationships.

I went all out when I turned 21. Gamble. Got drunk. Smoked. And was sick the next morning and broke. Learn from my mistakes. Try one or two, not all at the same time.

The trick to gambling is to look at as entertainment, and only as entertainment. If you set aside a certain amount of money, and you do not go over that amount, then it's really no different than any other form of recreation. If you have fun doing it, then do it.

Just don't ever sucker yourself into playing longer than you should with the intent of breaking even. You should always expect to lose your money. Anything you make is just a bonus.

Gambling is a form of greed: trying to get something for nothing. However, in every form, the odds are in the house's favor. You WILL lose in the long run, even if you started out well. Spend your money on something for yourself or a friend, or even better...save the money for the future.

I don't gamble because I have an addictive personality and that's one problem I don't want. I just watch my friends gamble.

You don't have to do anything you don't want to.

Gambling is just that... gambling. If you can afford it, why not? But it's not something that's worth getting into debt for.

Only if your frugal and have been brought up to respect "a dollar". Anyone who has trouble with their finances and can't keep a budget should stay away from gambling. It's entertainment only and will eat you alive otherwise.
