Why the US people is so ingrat? if the owe thir independece to the french why they hate them?? is just the madness of their arrogance that made them forget that in the battle of yorktown fought 10000 french soldiers and just 8000 lame US soldiers, is the arrogance of the yankis so big that they forget that the french defeated the royal navy in chessapeak bay avoiding cornwallis to recive support. The US said that the french are quiters but in World war I US just fought a few months instead of Russia ans in World war all we know that the desisive battles were stalingrad, leningrad, kursk and moskow. the D- day just save the west and US just took over 2 beaches (omaha and utah with almost a mess and to mant casualties) but the british 3 (juno, sword and gold) so the US is not the main fighter even in the d- day. the US even wasnt the main army in the most important battle of their independence. So the US people just are bunch of ingrats, liers and the real cowards not the french

you make some valid points but you really need to read up on your history.

yes, the french helped the colonies gain their independance. without french, spanish, and duthc support there would be no usa today.

and yes, the french were involved in ww1 from the offset of that war wheareas the us didnt get involved (militarily) untill much later.

the reason for this though is that it was a european war. at that point in time the us was not a superpower and it was a war that was started by european powers each having their motives in the war.

same thing with ww2, it began as a european war. we initially left it up to the european powers to settle their business. eventually japan attacked the us and so we entered ww2 in both theaters.

and to say that our involvement in ww2 was small is a very uneducated thing to say. it was us supplies that kept britain alive durring the battle for britain. it was us, british, free french, australian, canadian etc that liberated france. not to mention that before that we had liberated northern africa, sicaly, greece, and were fighting another full scale war liberating the pacific.

if the us hadn't entered ww2 most of europe would not be speaking german, they would be speaking russian.

true, we americans can be very arrogant, and yes, we often forget about french help durring our revolution. but the same can be said for many western europeans who forget that the us liberated them in ww2, defended them durring the cold war, and continues to defend them. this is part of the reason the us spends so much money on our military. because not only do we defend ourself, we defend the free nations of the world.

Actually we don't hate the Fench for any of the reasons listed. What we hate is the way that they think they are so superior to us in so many ways. They smugly look down their noses at us while they wait on us in their outdoor cafe's. They think we have no culture simply because we didn't exist 400 ago to have the cathedrals and the castles adorn the countryside, not realizing that the US has a culture too new for them to fathom, they think culture is the old and proven, the US has it's culture in the new and bold. They proudly claim to be innovative and better educated while their unemployment rate approaches 15% and immigrants and the poor cannot find work due to their status. So yeah we may really dislike the French...but given their attitude towards us...it's no less then they deserve

You're right. America DID owe a huge debt of gratitude to the French Army and Government of the 1700's. However, that debt does not carry forward 225 years... and should not in anyone's mind obligate us to acting "grateful" to a country that so openly denounces American values.

But hey... even if the debt did carry forward to today, and even if we were, magically obligated to remain grateful until the debt was "paid".... I'd say we paid that debt twice over... During WWI and WWII, by saving the French from the Germans... twice.

My question in return is... Why haven't the French figured out that passivity doesn't stand a chance against religious or psychological fanaticism??? There are times when one must take a stand...

I'm a neutral on this topic - I dislike France and the US equally.

We all know that in the US you like to avoid the truth as much as you can - I think it's shocking that so many in the US don't believe that global warming has something to do with humans - I suppose their unbelievably poor education doesn't help.

As for the French, their culture dictates that they must be lazy. This involves not fighting if at all possible, and only fighting if it'll drop the Brits in the turd.

My conclusion, they're both as bad as each other.

Whoever said anything about the US hating the French? Where did you hear anyone calling the French ingrates, liars, or cowards?

It takes a lot of courage to maintain your national integrity and rebuild after playing host to an invasion, and I honor the French for their part in WWII. I'm no history major, but I can not think of any one thing that would make me hate the French.

However, I have heard that the French are not exactly friendly or welcoming to Americans... and this question is certainly not helping any.

Maybe if you were to actually research your facts you cowardly little ****, you would get something right, because it seems like you aint got the slightest clue of what you are talking about. So instead of giving you a drawn out history lesson, I'll leave you with this.

The men and women who have given their lives in service to the US are the best men and women in history. Thos brave souls hold more honor and courage in their hearts that you ever could comprehend. So before you come on the internet and start blabling your mouth about history you dont even know, you better think twice, because you wouldnt have the guts to stand face to face with me, or any other member of the US armed forces in history and tell them to their face what you have put on here. So get your cowardly French *** back under the rock you so typicly hide under and pray your country doesnt run across a large colony of Fire Ants, wouldnt need you to have tio surrendur yet another fight. You make me sick.

Arrogance. Low quality history education. It is absolutely true that the French alliance allowed the USA to become independent. Likewise, the Dutch loan and arms from Spain (via New Orleans) early on.

ROFLMAO

That was the French of hundreds of years ago not the coward French of today. The French actually once had some balls but that was a long time ago and they won't soon grow any new ones.

We really don't hate the French at all. In fact, we worry about them because some of their politicians are socialist, there are large numbers of Muslims there, communists abound, and for other reasons. But the French don't hear the other side of the story, which is not reported by our closet communist (liberal) dominated media, or theirs.

Shouldn't you be saying this in German? Oh yeah... we liberated you.

How long did it take France to give up in WWII? 30 minutes? 45?

As for Yorktown, it's funny you mention that, because we asked for French support over a year before that and the French didn't bother getting involved until it was obvious that the Americans were gonna win.

Typical French.
