Actually, alsmot all places even macys in san francisco are VERY pet friendly. We went down there with our german shepherd and she was even allowed in the mall. As long as your dog is on a leash they will have no problem with it, they are really nice and understand-- they even have dog treats in the store! have fun!

if the puppy has had all it's shots and you will be holding it the whole time, i doubt you'll have a problem. i always see those people walking around with purse puppies in the mall and stuff. of course there is a chance that someone either won't like dogs, or will have an allergy and might complain to the store about the dog. in that case i think the worst that would happen is that they'd ask you to leave. i'd say just go for it and see what happens! remember you can also take the pup to stores like petsmart and petco, they are always welcome there!

You should check with the individual store. I'm not sure how it is where you live, but around here dogs are not generally welcome in stores unless they are service dogs, or service dogs in training.
If I were you I'd just leave the puppy home.

A puppy shouldn't be out in public areas to be exposed to infectious diseases. Perhaps you will be carrying it, but you still will be touching handrails, door knobs, shopping carts etc.
Wait until it has had the entire series of vaccinations completed, before you take it around in public.

I think Sears and other clothing stores have policies about pets in stores. It is to protest others who are allergic to pet dander and don't like dogs so they don't get sued.

Usually as long as you aren't talking about restaurants, and other food establishments, they don't seem to mind much in most cases.
