It could be lots of different things. There are sleep disorders that are physical problems, and there are others that are caused by mental stress, anxiety or depression.
You should definitely contact your doctor to find out what exactly is the cause. Then they can help you treat it properly.

Sounds like you're not getting enough solid sleep in bed. This is dangerous if you drive a car because driving while sleepy is as dangerous as driving while intoxicated.
It's really important that you get to bed early enough to get your solid 8 hours (or for some people a little more) before you have to get up the next day.
Lack of sleep is, in my problem, a serious health risk.

Sounds like your not getting enough sleep. I'm like that sometimes too. If I'm doing something like driving, I'm ok. But if I'm just watching tv or reading a book and I'm low on sleep, I'll fall asleep.

Maybe yoiu have sleep apnea and are not sleeping soundly at night. That is a common symptom of that. Are you a snorer? That's a sign as well.

Sounds like you may have narcolepsy. Tell your doctor about it and get tested.
