I donate to the Disabled American veterans,, I really think they deserve it after they have given themselves to keep our country a safe place to live.

The best thing to do is research charities in your community. The smaller charities are usually better managed than the large ones, and I think it's best to start by helping your neighbors.
When you donate to large charities, you're probably helping to pay some CEO a high six-figure salary. If you donate locally, there's a good chance that a larger percentage of your money is actually reaching the intended person.

specific you're able to do this, regardless of the undeniable fact that it you will nevertheless be out of pocket for the version between the donation and the tax mark downs. in case you donated the $10k you will possibly keep approximately $3,3 hundred in taxes yet might nevertheless have $6,700 below you will possibly have had in case you had no longer made the donation. somewhat, $250k falls approximately halfway interior the 33% bracket so which you will no longer drop a bracket besides. Spending money to keep taxes especially much in no way will pay off. Make the donation for the good that it does, no longer for any tax mark downs.

Charity begins at home . LOL
Just kidding.
Consider charities that ask for donations to support medical research. It benefits just about everybody.

The Ronald McDonald House...there are some all over the country. They house families of terminally ill children in the hospital. Their mission is to create a home away from home so that the families do not have to be overwhelmed with the preassures of life while they are helping their children to cope. It is a place for them to rest, pray, eat a meal, all while staying close to the hospital. The house is free to them but, as with everything in this world, it costs money to run the house. I had the pleasure of volunteering for one of the houses in California and it is amazing. The staff is loving, the families are grateful, and the organization is pure. For someone getting back on their feet, having a place to live while looking for work makes a world of difference.
Habitat for Humanity is great (and you can even volunteer to help build - no matter your skill level!)...but they are only able to help a certain number of families. www.habitat.org/
There are a number of transitional housing assistance programs on a local level that you might consider. I would really encourage you to look into this!
Also, if you ever consider international assistance, Compassion International is awesome! I donate to them and have sponsored a little girl in Ecuador who is now about 13 years old. www.compassion.com Write to me if you want more info about my experience with that. I strongly support their good work in the life of youth.

I would recommend researching local charities, however I would aslo recommend helping with homeless FAMILIES in your community. Having recently been in a homeless situation with 2 children,I was very saddened to find out that there is very little help for families that fall on hard times. Unless there are drug or alcohol problems or criminal issues there is very little help available out there! I am happy to say that I am now back on my feet & work closely with a local charity to help people in similiar situations to mine!

Don't think you will find a charity that spends most of the money on their goals, but I wish you luck.
