When you decide to let go, should you tell him why or just leave quietly? This is not going to be an easy task for me.

Will I hurt lesser by leaving him quietly?

Tell him if he's the kind to listen. You don't want him doing the same thing to someone else. Give him a chance to learn from his mistakes even if you're not giving him a chance.

If he's not the kind to listen, just tell him it's over and move on. If he's not going to grow from it, there's not much point.

Good luck!

Certainly you should tell him, that way when you leave he will know your reasons for living and that there is not way that you and him can work it out, be respectful and civil. Yes it will not be easy and you know you have to tell him whether you want to or not, nothing in life is ever easy anyway and so you have to do the best you can with what you have. Leaving quietly might not help your situation, might indeed make it worse.

Why not just write a letter? Not an E-mail. But write things clearly and from your heart. That way he won't ague with you, and you are able to finish what you have to say without being interrupted.

If you're gonna go, do it anyway. Sometimes when people get upset, they could care less why you're leaving, they will only be able to see that they have been rejected.

If you want to write the letter, it will save you drama. If you just bail out without a mature reason, he might not get the picture. Good luck either way, If this was an abusive relationship, you owe him NOTHING.

Always tell him why so he can observe if the same reason happens in his next relationship. Unless you're afraid of him and then lie, tell him some reason that won't make him mad
