Last night I had a big white ball come out of my throat and it felt like it came straight out of a tonsil. My fiance has the same thing happen sometimes, but I never pay attention because I always thought it was nasty. I have had a horrible taste in my mouth for like a week which I thought was sinuses and when I swallow it is sometimes painful. Does anyone else get these? What are they? Can they be treated? I think I feel another one back there and can't get it out... any suggestions PLEASE?

I have them too they are tonsil stones. Seeing a doctor really won't help. You can get some thing to flush them out but I just use q-tips

They are little chunks of bacteria that get stuck in your tonsils. I get them all the time too, and yes they do taste terrible. Try not to bite into them if that is possible, because then the taste is even worse. There is not much you can do for them and they are very normal. I have chronic tonsil issues so my doctor suggested having them removed, but that seemed extreme to me. Instead I check them periodically to make sure there is nothing stuck there, and if there is, I remove it. Sometimes they are hard to reach or I gag when I try to get to them. The surgeon suggested a water pik but I usually use Q-tips

Know the asteroid wellhead tonsil stones them for many years and it's been title not eventually.

Best decision I've ever made! I was shocked by the way of getting out the stones out. It was so easy, but more importantly, painless. I really liked the little trick he had for preventing gag reflex. He have one happy customer here.

Sounds like a gob of phlegm from upper respiratory infection or allergy.

If you're talking about a white dot or dots on your tonsils that you can see when you look in that may be strep throat and will require a visit to the doctor.

If it came out it is likely to be related to allergies or a cold. If other upper respiratory symptoms (sore throat, itching, sneezing, or things like that) persist, see your doctor.

I know what you mean, its buildup of food that gets stuck in the ridges and dents in your tonsils, and they smell like crap when they come out too, cause the food has rotted back there. i get them out with my tounge i just roll it back there and pick em out, but most people are not that flexible. I have heard gargling with saltwater, but i think thats a load of BS and dosen't work at all. you could try a q-tip if you can avoid the gag reflex...http://www.parkhurstexchange.com/qa/A.php?q=/qa/ENT/2001-10-07.qa .......thats the technical definition for you...
