Also, could i get a nice apartment in Los Angeles in a nice part of town for about 350 a month? How much does it cost in order to have a nice apartment in LA? It doesn't have to be big.

No not at that price....websearch westsiderentals, that's a big thing here. The trick here is to find room mates, that's what everyone does....and it cuts rent way down...My guess is 1 bedroom--$1200.00, 2- $1500 to $2000, 3 --$2200 to $3000.
Keep looking you will find something...Good Luck...

Average Rent In Los Angeles

Moving anywhere near UCLA will cost you quite a bit. One bedroom and single apartments can cost $1,200 and much more. I would look into renting an apartment with someone you know, or renting a room from someone advertising for a roommate. Another option would be to find an apartment in the San Fernando Valley that is located near the 405 Freeway. However, be prepared to sit in bumper-to-bumper traffic for an hour to get over the hill to UCLA. There are other areas south of Westwood that are more economical also. They tend to be a bit on the seedy side, though. The Valley tends to give you the best bang for your buck, but driving in L.A. is a giant pain. Apartment hunting in L.A. can be very frustrating. I recommend that you start your search early and give yourself plenty of time to find a place before you actually need it.

$350 a month? You've got to be kidding!

According to a recent article in the LA Times, the average rent for a one-bed in LA is $1,100.00 That's AVERAGE. A one bed in my building is going for $1,025.00. And it's not that nice.

While most financial experts recommend spending no more than 1/3 of your income on housing, in LA the average if 40%.

You can maybe, MAYBE rent a room for that price.

Sorry for the culture shock, but LA boasts the 3rd highest housing rates in the country, after NY and SF.

The figures given by these responses are pretty accurate. You need to keep in mind that there is a lot of opportunity in this area and that the average wages are higher than in other parts of the country. My rent doubled when I got here, but so did my income for the same job. $350 is not nearly enough to live in a safe neighboorhood. You might be able to find someone that owns a house who is looking for extra income at a low price. Good luck.

You can't find a single room for rent at $350 in LA. Maybe if you were willing to live in a gang infested area but that is about it.

A one bedroom apartment will run you about $1000 to $1200 a month for a normal area. You might be able to find somewhere for $750 but I doubt it. You can easily find places that run $2500 to $5000 too.

The biggest question will be where do you want to live, LA is a pretty big city, and at what standard of living.

I pay $1300 for a studio in woodland hills, Unless you want to live in a bad part of town your looking at at least $1000 for a single and even then your not getting much, a double would be about $1600-2200

to rent a room your talking 550 and up

For $350.00 a month you wouldn't even be able to get an apartment in the crack cocaine hood area. What do you consider nice? There are many suburbs on the outskirts of LA, however, the price is steep everywhere. You must decide what/where you are willing to live. The street people of LA might hook you up with livin under the bridge in their cardboard box for that $350.00 you mentioned.

LA is just too big to answer that question here. Try craigslist.
