she scratches at their face and chest real fast but only the females . she hasnt done this before and it is kinda wierd

i have a female chihuahua too, my vet says it's because she's nesting, getting ready to get comfy, she's checking to make sure there are no snakes in her bed, its like a maternal instinct, like when a dog does a full circle before laying down, they are making sure area is safe to let there guard down and rest.

It seems to be a chihuahua "thing". With mine, it's because they are looking for attention and trying to get closer to the person. My Shih Tzu is far more obvious about looking for attention. She tries to crawl right down your throat!

my chihuahua does it too. I was told she does that because she wants what is on you. my lilo smells food on us and she starts scratching. Does your chihuahua bark and try to bit strangers
