How much did the room cost total=$30
The clerk realizes the room should have been only $25.
He give the bellman (5) one dollar bills to refund the 3 guest.
The bellman pockets $2 on the sly and gives each guest a 1$ ea.
Now each guest has paid $9 ea..or $27
The bellman has $2 in his pocket.
$27 + $2 = $29
Where is the other dollar?

27 +2 = 29 is true, but irrelevant. It doesn't represent what the guests paid, nor what anybody received.

The guests paid 27, 25 to the hotel, 2 to the bellman.

Of course in the real world, corporate executive pay would not only have the alleged missing dollar, but several more million to go with it.

theres a fault in your math

30$(total)

25$(for room) + 5$(change)=30$

2$(tip the bell boy kept) + 3$(1 dollar each)=5$(change)
