Why are you generalizing an entire group of people? If you like your friend and she/he becomes a skateboarder would that change the essence of who they are? You need to open your mind and like people for who they are not what hobbies they do.

Ok, so you hate skateboarding, or you hate skateboarders? You have to realize that not all skateboarders are the same. I personally do not care for most of them, but since your friend wants to try something new and different...you should encourage this. You know your friend, how they act, and they know you...so why not just give it a shot. You never know...you might find a group of skateboarders that aren't so bad. Plus, it's a life experience!
Good luck...

Let your friend do what they want --- true friendship, you only want the best for the other.
What is wrong with skateboarders?

would you really judge your friend if they want to try something new? They will still be the same person i assume and thats the reason you became friends in the first place.
