I keep falling asleep in class... it lasts 3 more hours. Any suggestions on how to stay awake/alert?

Hydrate yourself, that's most important. I usually take a snack to munch on. Keeping my mouth moving also keeps my eyes open. Skittles, grapes, or cereal all work well. Gum helps some folks, but I personally will fall asleep w/gum, and sometimes swallow it lol. And one final trick, sit near someone else who is falling asleep. I find it so entertaining to watch them, that I don't have time to sleep lol!! Good luck!

I had the same problem in Calculus class. First thing is make sure you're getting enough sleep. We're supposed to get 8 hours a night (though years later I still haven't managed to do that one yet).

I started forcing myself to sit at the front of the class. Knowing that the teacher would see me dozing off and knowing what would happen if I did was usually enough to keep me awake.

If I was really having problems staying awake, I'd have a diet pepsi before (or during) class. That little bit of caffeine was enough to help me get through

Drink plenty of water. When provided breaks, get up, stretch, walk around, put a little bit of energy into your system.

Or you can do how I did in boot camp when I was nearly falling asleep in class. It hurts, but it does keep you awake.

Stab yourself in the leg with your pen. Not extremely hard, here, you don't want to bleed or anything, but that little poke sends a tiny jolt of adrenaline through your body. It was a tip taught to us by our drill sergeants when they were trying to keep themselves awake back in their days of training.

If you're not opting for that, then all I could suggest is just sleeping more at night and watching how much sugar you're getting during the day (too much can lead your body to "crash"). Good luck.

coffee, no-doz,vivarin, unless you want a more natural solution. Then i would suggest getting up and walking around on breaks, maybe getting a sugary snack. theres got to be a break in a 3 hour class. when you feel yourself about to fall asleep, go to the bathroom and splash a little cold water on your face. good luck!!

Drink water. Just take a bottle to class and sip it. Staying hydrated will help you stay awake.
