Is it an emotional need? it is a Spiritual Need..
Higher Power derived from the 12 Step programs so all people who were Sustance Abusers could pray to thier Higher Power in being released from the grips of Alcoholism or drug addiction..

I don't think there's an emotional need to believe in a god.

I think there are emotional needs that belief in a god satisfies... especially fear of death.

Lack of belief for me came from setting emotional needs aside and concentrating on what was true and what there was evidence for. I dealt with my emotions about my conclusions afterwards.

No, it's a logical conclusion based on years of study... emotion hadn't a thing to do with it, as it applied in my analytical examinations and hunt for such a being, except the sinking gut feeling I was now going to be prey for people who are convinced that only THEIR perception of an omnipotent creator being's existence is the ONLY correct one and anyone else who disagrees should be an object of scorn and hatred...

If you don't believe, the emotional need is not there. Disbelief doesn't require emotion.
