Well- I personally never been to an online dating site. But I'd think that if you have to pay- there is a better chance that you will find someone that is truely them. Not many people are going to go out of their way to pay for a joke- I am dating a guy that I met online but it wasn't in a dating site.. Been with him almost 2 years now so I believe it works just have to keep your guard up! :) Good luck

I'm a paying member of Match.com, and have had mixed (90% bad) results.
Most of the guys are just looking to get laid, and the few good ones on there are on there for a reason. Usually, it is because they have no time for dating, and they fail to realize that joining doesn't change that, or there is something really wrong with them.
The last guy I went on a date with ate his food off of the table because he lacked the manual dexterity required to move the fork from plate to mouth properly.
Give it a shot, but keep your guard WAY up.

I dont think it matters if you pay or if it is for free, as long as you are okay with getting spam because of it. I met my ex-wife online, but it was a lot of fun while it lasted. Just wish I had realized that she wasn't being her true self around me until we got married.

PLEASE BE HONEST!

It makes life so much easier.

I don't know if it does make a difference between free sites and premieum ones. But I met my husband through yahoo personals.

Yes, my sister is engaged to a wonderful guy she met through an on line dating site. One of my best friends started out as a date from an on line site. She used the paid option, I did not (although my date in question had.)

So it may depend on what you define as "working."
In my opinion, the trick is to be patient, be up front about who you are and what you are looking for in the other person, and be selective.

And please follow the safety guidelines - only meet in public, don't give out any sensitive or location information, trust your gut instinct. If the person is a good match (either as future spouse or future friend) they will respect your boundaries. Of course, respect theirs as well.

Good luck.

I had a friend who met a great guy that way on Match.Com. But, there are the horror stories.... the ex cons, married people saying they are single, the pervs. Just be careful and don't rush into anything.

Online or not, it's your feelings. Love cannot be judged by the price. If you don't love the person, you won't love the person ever, no matter how good his profile might be. It depends on the person, not the price, not the method. =)

You can do it for free...there are some sites that are free. But if you want to get more features you will have to upgrade. I've seen it where people say "I'm not upgraded but if interested here is my email address........."
