I have been breastfeeding for 7 months now, and only had bleeding in the beginning. I'm on the mini pill and I never miss taking it. But I'm a little concerned about the symptoms I have been having... needing to use the bathroom more, fatigue, dizziness, moodiness, increased appetite. Yesterday I thought I might be starting my period but only a little bit of spotting has come.

It is perfectly normal to get your period anytime from right after birth up to three years later when you are breastfeeding. It depends on your body.

If you are concerned take a pregnancy test, it will be accurate (well as accurate as they ever are). However if you take the pill as prescribed you should be safe.

When your period does come back it may be very light, or extremely heavy, or anything in between.

Some women don't have a period the entire time they are nursing. Some get their periods back right away. (Although the first 6 weeks or so of postpartum bleeding is not a period - that's the lochia from the birth.) Others may get their period back if they begin supplementing, baby begins sleeping through the night or when they start solids. All is normal!

Remember that the first time you ovulate will be BEFORE you ever have a period. So you can get PG without ever having a period. If you think there is any chance you could be PG, the best thing to do is just take a test.

I also took the minipill while breastfeeding. I did not once have a period. I was always convincing myself that I was pregnant because I never had a period, but I never was. I even took several tests to confirm that I wasn't. I went twelve months like that, before I stopped breastfeeding. You are probably fine but if you are worried, you can always buy a cheap test to put your mind at ease. Also, if your symptoms get too bad, you should probably see your doctor to rule out other problems with the pill.

Normally you don't get your period during breastfeeding, but you can, especially if your baby is starting to drink and eat other things besides breastmilk and is therefore having much less breastmilk.
But I would defenitely consult your ob/gyn on your issue of feeling the way you do. Now remember feeling dizzy means the room is spinning, are you feeling lightheaded?
