It depends on your pain tolerance. Pain varies from person to person. What may be painful for you may not be painful for me. I know most people said that it's extremely painful, but one of my friends actually loves waxing. She doesn't seem to find it...well...painful. :)

By downstairs do you mean the bikini line or the whole she-bang? Because if you mean just the bikini line then it depends on how dark your hair is. The darker the hair the more it hurts when it is waxed out. If you mean the whole shebang then it does hurt but to which degree depends upon the individual. Also as soon as the therapist wax's the hair they instantly cover the area with their hand which makes it not as painful (don't worry they wear gloves!) Also the more frequent you have an area waxed the less painful it becomes over time and also it takes longer to grow. This is because you are pulling the hairs from the roots instead of just cutting them off.

I get mine done regularly now about every month. The very first time that I got a down there it did hurt. But here are some tips.

Dont get it the week before your period starts because your skin is more sensitive.
If you need to take a advil or something before you go.
When you are there ask them to put ice on the area so that it will numb it that way it doesnt hurt so badly.
Other than that I think that you will be fine.

The frequency with which you go and the time of the month you go will determine the pain (I've heard more than once a the week after your period is the best time). It helps to pop an Advil or something similar about an hour before your appointment. And most importantly, it helps to relax!

I have only waxed down there once. I am usually good about the eyebrows and such.
I only did it once because it did HURT. But I did hear that the more you do it the less it will hurt.

wow, childbirth didn't hurt for you? that's lucky. it depends on how much you can tolerate pain, and if childbirth didn't hurt you, it probably wont hurt as much.
