Oh my, well I would suggest you turn the oven down or off and leave the cake in there until a toothpick comes out clean. I'm sorry but the cake may not work out. Maybe next time you could bake two cakes and stack them after they are baked.

You don't say what temperature you set the oven to. It sounds like either your oven runs high (hot) or that you set it too high. When the cake is baking under high-heat conditions, the outside cooks faster than the inside, leaving the cake looking exactly how you described it: burnt on the outside, gooey in the middle. It might set up and solidify as it cools, so try that first. If it's still runny, you might be able to salvage it if you microwave it (assuming you can get it into something microwaveable without it falling apart). Microwave heat tends to target the core of whatever you're cooking first. Otherwise, it sounds like it's time to scrap it and start over, taking care to set the oven properly and maybe take it down 15-20 degrees so it cooks the center and the outside evenly.

the perfect tip i grants you is to first frost the cake with a skinny layer of frosting. make useful the cake has cooled off thoroughly. Then place it interior the refrigerator. Dont hassle with regard to the crumbs. Refrigerate for a least an hour or until the frosting is enterprise to touch. Then frost the cake as in case you may previously you beautify it. notice: butter- and cream cheese-based frostings will enterprise up greater effective than frostings made with shortening. while you're utilising whipped cream as a frosting, you may stick to a skinny layer of jam to help contain the crumbs. there is not any choose for the greater crumb coat. Refrigerate the total cake, and repeat with the the rest ranges. The crammed, frosted cake layers could be refrigerated for as much as two days previously the marriage devoid of dropping high quality--in spite of the indisputable fact that that's perfect to apply a separate refrigerator so as that the cake won't take in sturdy smells from different meals interior the refrigerator. then you certainly can beautify it the form you opt for to

You might be able to turn the oven down and bake it a bit longer. When it's done, maybe you can cut the top off and frost it to hide the unevenness.

It really sounds like your oven was too hot. Be sure to set the oven to the correct temperature, and let it preheat before putting your cake in.

Better luck next time!☺

It sounds like the pan was the wrong size. Throw out the cake because the burned taste will permeate the entire cake.

Start again fresh. Read the back of the package for suggested sizes of pans to use.

since you put two cake mixs in the same tin you should put the cake on the bottom so that the top wont burn and cook it for twice as long so thats its not all grooey inside

You'll probably have to throw it out.

If you really want the cake, just bake it until toothpick comes out clean and then cut the burnt parts off.

Just give up and toss it in the garbage. It will never bake properly.
You should have used a larger cake pan.The top will continue to burn and the middle will never bake.
