I have very poofy curly hair with long right sidebangs that go to my chin. I straighten my hair and it is still poofy! If I get layers will it be less poofy? Also I use sulsilk anti-poof shampoo and 24/7 creme.

Also, my mom's hair was dead straight when she was a kid and now it's like mine. My sister's hair used to be dead straight and now it is wavy and poofy. Will my hair get straight as I get older? My hair has never been straight!

professional straightening doesn't work for everyone. i have really curly hair and i had mine done, she really messed it up!
when i want to straighten my hair, i condition it with a heat protectant formula, blow dry with a rounded brush, and if i need to, i go over it with a straightener or a large barrel curling iron.
you can use straightening products if you want...before blowdrying. i use got2be, sebastian or kenya

Cutting your hair in layers will decrease the volume of your hair depending on how you style it. Have you tried a flat iron?
